Tonight’s very good dinner was braised whole Poollo Real Label Rouge chicken legs, with baby turnips and turnip greens, and seasoned with minced onion and chopped garlic. Wine was a 1987 Faiveley Clos de Vougeot - fill just below the capsule, cork saturated to between a half inch and 3/4 inch roughly; dark, complex, secondary currant and berry fruit, with good acidity; and a long, complex fruity finish. The mid-palate and finish were initoally hard without the chicken and turnips. It was still slightly hard, even with the food. By the end of the meal, the wine was matched well with the food.
Then or dessert, we had TJ’s chocolate bars - 72% dark for me and milk for Carollee; enjoyed with a nice, but old, NV Mark Swann Australian Golden Muscat Rutherglen - good acidity and fruit and very good with the chocolates.
It really is amazing reading Dicks post’s night after night, one great meal after another with amazing aged wines and Licquors and always followed with dessert. He is truly my hero. I would be 400 lbs if I lived half as large as Dick.
I lost over sixty pounds last year (from over 225 to around 165), by cutting down on the quantity I ate, especially breakfast; where I cut back fro three to one or two TJ’s Chocolate Chunk cookies with my half a glass of milk. I also now eat a little less for dinner and I seldom eat lunch.
