Brachetto d'Acqui ??

What do I have a bottle of here, and what would you drink it with? This is by Viticoltori dell Acquese. It says only 6% alcohol. Any idea? “Sweet and mellow red” from Piedmonte.

Yes, it’s a sweet, simple red sparkler from Piemonte. Like a red version of Moscato, probably suitable for similar situations and pairings.

Thanks, Chris. This is a long bottle with a narrow end. Looks like a very light red through the bottle. Does not seem like it would be a sparkler. Serve slightly chilled?

Sweet but still with good tannin and acid, it’s probably the best turkey wine there is but I love to sip it with a simple pizza dinner, goes well with anything.
An if yours is supper sweet, you have a very poor example.

I don’t think that is one of the better ones, so it may be too sweet. If it is well-made, it should be delicious with a wide variety of lighter savory foods.

Sunday morning read the paper type of beverage.

Summertime beverage. Slightly sweet, tastes like strawberries, a bit fizzy, low alcohol - it’s always nice to have around. I guess to wine it’s like “near beer” is to beer. But instead of a bottle of coke, have some of that stuff.

The producer is a low end co-op cantina but is good QPR. There are definitely much better Brachetto wines, such as Marenco, which will deliver the goods in the way a high quality Moscato d’Asti will. They are what they are however, light, low abv, fizzy, slightly sweet quaffers for refreshment.

I like it with a plate of cured meats, olives, and parm.

This is definitely not for savoury dishes. I just had it the other day.
Serve straight from the bottom of the fridge and drink on its own or with strawberries or other red berries.
No tannins in this!

I totally agree - nothing better with Charcuterie that a nice young Brachetto or an upper tier Lambrusco - one of those food and wine marriages made in heaven -

What I said was that THIS Brachetto is far too sweet and devoid of tannins to perform with charcuterie. It is as someone said like red Moscato d’Asti.

Quality dry red Lambrusco is fantastic with charcuterie.

I still like salty with slightly sweet frizzante…
