Bond Wines

Of the different Bond Vineyards (St. Eden, Melbury, etc) which vineyard would you put your money on? I’m trying to determine which bottle to buy.

Vecina, it is Vine Hill Ranch fruit and is meticulously farmed. Harlan at 1/2 the price. Better yet, get on the mailer for VHR…

Another vote for the Vecina (and VHR), although the St. Eden can be great too.

Sounds like you’re looking at the single vineyard wines, but in some years the Matriarch can be very good and give you a glimpse at the style at a fraction of the price.

St. Eden and Vecina.

There is a world of difference between the VHR wine and BOND’s Vecina. From what blocks make up each, to how they are farmed, and more so how they are handled in the winery.

I can’t help with the specific vineyards since I have never had the opportunity to drink any of those bottlings. However, the few bottles of Matriarch I have tried over the past few years have been great.

Only one I drink is the Melbury…

I don’t have enough experience to say. I signed up for the list before they produced their first wine, but they went from “expensive” to “you’re kidding, right” in a instant, bypassing “ridiculously expensive” altogether. As an example of that breed of Napa cab, Matriarch was pretty good though

So is the Vecina much better than the VHR bottle?

I just picked up a bottle of the 2004 Melbury. I might crack it open this weekend.
