Bolgheri wineries to visit

Planning our next trip to Italy and thinking of visiting Bolgheri. Can anyone recommend good wineries to visit?

Hey Rhodes
We went to Bolgheri during our first trip to Italy in 2019. We went to Ornellaia and Argentiera. Preferred the wines and visit at Argentiera. Ornellaia is a beautiful estate and it’s a solid visit but the wines don’t appeal to us and the visit felt too much like Napa. Tenuta Guado Al Tasso is another one and is poart of Antinori. That said the Super Tuscan wines that are heavy on Cab and Merlot we’re just not fans of.

If you do visit make sure to book a dinner at La Pineta on the coast. Fantastic and authentic spot and a terrific wine list as well. I’d visit the area just to eat there again.

Just visited (for a day) two weeks ago. We were on a cruise and had a 2 day stop in the port of Livorno. Bolgheri is only 45 minutes down the road from there. We had a private driver and tour guide. We visited Grattamacco (the Bolgherie Superiore was excellent - 2021 vintage and a steal at 95 euro) and Le Macchiole (more of boutique experience - great Bolgheri Rosso and Blanco and Merlot). Did lunch at Osteria San Guido (tasting menu and paired with Le Difese, Guildalberto, and Sassicaia. Be sure to hit the old medieval town of Bolhgeri - multiple restaurants and wine shops.
