Recommendations where to buy truffles? Looks like we’re coming to the end of Winter Black Truffle season. Hosting a small dinner March 29th.

For what it’s worth, Douglas Keane of Cyrus uses Gourmet Attitude, along with other big names (Thomas Keller [Per Se, The French Laundry], Grant Achatz [Alinea], Daniel Boulud, Stefani Di Palma [Addison], and more).
I have not tried this place but they sound very good.

Thanks. Gourmet Attitude seems pricey…which is worthwhile if the quality is there. Old world Truffles appears to be sold out of black truffles for the moment…probably worth reaching out to them.
Any thoughts on Urbani? Mixed reviews. They also sell through Eataly. Fresh Black Winter Truffles – Urbani Truffles
Also found Truffin…which claims to sell to high end restaurants but no listed location (NYC) or phone which always makes me suspicious. About Us – Trufflin®

Urbani sold me bad caviar. I complained and they replaced it with more bad caviar. Not sure if their mushrooms are better, but not ordering from them again.

As a FYI. I obtained Italian Summer Black Truffles from Marky’s markys.com in Florida. Decent quality. I presume they’re “Fresh”. Aroma-wise? I’d say they rate about a 1 on the 10 scale…which was not unexpected. Reportedly they need warm butter/oil to produce much fragrance…and flavor. 4 oz purchase.
Last of the season Winter Black Truffles came from Gourmet Attitude in NYC. Pietro and Celine make it happen. Not cheap…but these Truffles are very much for real. 7 - 8 on the aroma intensity scale. Good looking truffles. 2 oz purchase.

I’m sorta planning a risotto for Christmas Eve.
Ideally black truffle.
Any recent experiences with the various purveyors?
Urbani also has caviar which would help a bit with the overall shipping and logistics.
Any luck with your Christmas truffles? I have been looking at Urbani for sourcing truffles for a birthday dinner in January and am curious about your experience.
Based on my quick research, I don’t think I would buy from Urbani unless I physically walked in and could see and smell the truffles myself. The retailers I mentioned came through for me last year.

They were decent not exceptional. Size was very good. The black truffle butter was well above average.
Bought the caviar from Imperia and it was very good.
