Birthyear wines for my birthday

The Calon was in terrific condition. Aromatic, great cherry fruit, still grippy.
The Grunhauser was dense and rich. Great Saar acidity. Not as big as the Middle Mosel, let alone the massive Rhein wines.
Both were in better shape than me!

Youngster!!

Happy Birthday - glad the wines showed well for you

Old Grunhause can really be marvelous.

Very nice. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Old Fart! No Port?
We share the same excellent birth year, but you’re three months older. I’ve been stocking up on wines from our vintage. No '59 Calon Segur, but we have cases of the '96 to mark our anniversary. The only '59 rieslings I had were four 1959 Deinhard Forster Ungeheuer Riesling Spätlese. Unknown producer, but they were all great.

Cheers to drinking well, and to being even better next year.

Color on the Grunhauser is so crazy, interesting to see it still drinking well

This is a perfectly normal colour for a 66 year old German TBA. I have seen them darker than this and still drink amazingly well. Colour in these old TBA is commonly a dark mahogany.

Great to get Saar acidity in the Ruwer!

No Port in 1959! :upside_down_face:

It’s actually light colored for a 1959 TBA.

Woops!
But it still applies! :grinning:
