Biggest Ripoff in Vegas Cusine

I do like that place, as well as Marche Baccus. Rosemary’s I have been to once. Not only was the food bad, but the menu was increedibly unimaginative, with every special being almost exactly the same as every other item. Everything they featured had the exact same mushroom in it which my wife is very allergic too. We won’t be going back.

Lindo used to be really good, but the owner has so many restaurants in town now it’s really hit or miss. Rosemary’s was great when they first opened, but chefs have come and gone and have heard a lot of negative things ( haven’t been in about 3 years). Marche Bacchus is nice( pretty good selection in the store which they well open for you for $15) nice to call ahead so they can decant. I’m kinda more old Vegas- The Tillerman for steaks and seafood, Ferraro’s for Italian ( if you haven’t been you should try ) also for steaks Joe’s stone crab in the Forum shops kicks some serious butt. While I do enjoy LOS, Kung Fu plaza has been around for 30 years and has some of the best Thai/Chinese in town.

Rosewood Grill just for lobster. Good, well-priced list of whites to accompany shellfish & butter.

What is Kung fu Plaza?

I know of a few good places in Chinatown to go to. There is a better than average pho place, plus a a great place for ban mai. The Hu Thai is my lumch spot for that- great ban mai sandwiches.

Bob,

Kung Fu is just before Chinatown on the corner of Valley View and Spring Mountain. We’ll talk when you’re here.

The wine angel place I think you are referring to is Aereole in Mandalay Bay. Very extensive wine list viewed digitally . I was there once, the meal was Price Fixe and the food was just ok. I was disappointed. I do remember consuming a wonderful bottle of Ornellaia 1997. The wine was the star of the night, not the food.

I haven’t been to Prime in about 7 months, but it never disappointed me and I enjoyed it. That is not to say it didn’t go downhill, I cannot comment on it, but I plan on hitting it in Feb. as well as LOS and eithe Alex (which I heard is great) or David Burke’s (which never disappointed me).

As for the person who commented on the restaurants in the strip hotels are for gullible people reading W.S. I am sorry but you are talking from inexperience. There are som every good restaurants in Vegas on the strip that have provided me memorable meals. The worst restaurant for me, other than Marterrano was Restaurant Charlie in Palazzo. The food was just ok, the price tag astronomical. I don’t mind paying big dollars to eat if the food is outstanding and the service impeccable. For instance, I think Michael Mina’s in S.F. is worth every penny. A truly inspired meal. I say the same about Alto in NYC. Per Se while good, was over the top and was a marathon meal that after about the 3 hour mark , I wanted to bail and get on with my evening.

I have not been to LOS and it is on the top of my list for Feb.

Joe - I totally forgot to drop you a line before I came into town. Next time for SURE!

If you paid $50 for 2002 Argiano Brunello, you are already used to be being ripped off! neener

I went to Rosemary’s once…one of the biggest letdowns ever for me.

Food was way over salted. Service was bleh.

smaller, not quite as good overall but the food & wine are unchanged. when it was across the street from Mirage, and that was the hottest property in town, i had some very large nights out @ Rosewood Grill.

dude, we should rock some lobsters there one night this year!

Take you pick…

The cheesy ads for Rosewood always deterred me from going.

the Italian guy holding up the huge lobster? lol.

Those ads were all over the strip.

lobster is good there Daniel, new joint is across from Monte Carlo and white list isn’t onerously priced.

Glenn

Seriously, good to know.

I will check it out on my next visit.
