I’ll be in Champagne next week and was hoping to visit a classic, tourist-friendly house—something with a bit of spectacle or history, ideally with a good tour and tasting. Unfortunately, both Pommery and Mercier are already fully booked for the days I’m there.
Any recommendations for other houses that offer a similar experience? Bonus points for cool cellars, beautiful architecture, or a fun tasting setup.
We will visit some growers as well but want to do a well guided tour as well.
Any other recommendations for restaurants, must see’s and must visit champagnes are also welcome!
Really liked Tattinger and Ruinart tastings/tours you’ve been on. I do belive that once you’ve seen one chalk cave you’ve seen them all… but one is nice.

Ruinart is pretty much exactly what you’re looking for. I just did the tour in February. The caves are massive - I believe they have the largest caves in the region. But yes once you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all

I’m doing Taittinger and Mumm a week from today with my family. They both have excellent caves. I was last there 45 years ago as a buyer, so I can’t speak to their retail tour experience . . . yet
All fully booked but a place at Mercier opened up.
Any smaller houses that are must visits (more in regards with buying)
Ruinart was my favorite and Taittnger was also very good.
