I am not sure wines like Pride, Leonetti and the Reserve crowd in general fit this category.
The ‘lesser’ wines are made to be what they are from the onset, and not inteneded to be in the running for the reserves. The ‘second’ wines are usually the balance of what is left behind. I could be wrong.

The thought behind this was best barrels/blend vs the winemakers next best selection. I thought Pride, Leonetti, Lewis, Quilceda, etc made wines in this fashion, not true?

I will try and keep my first post updated as new suggestions come up. Really after best examples and not looking for every singel label.

I thought Maya is very different blend from Dalla Valle Cab, so don’t feel that one really should be included, unless a good case can be made.

Not sure of the exact criteria, but shouldn’t you have Montelena Estate/Napa?

Maya is Franc heavy, Cab is obviously Cab dominated. Don’t think Quilceda should be in here either, Cab is obviously mostly Cab, Red Wine is usually 50% Cab or so, it’s really just a separate wine. Don’t think Lewelling should be in here either as Wight is a single vineyard and Napa is a separate vineyard, not sure Wight fruit even goes into it.
