I’ve always loved the label. I enjoy auction houses trying to determine if there’s any damage to them.
Did he say anything about the Grenache?
Also, I really like the “I dont give a fuck about the label; the wine is great” vibe the current labels give, but I find them visually unappealing. Still, I’d vote for keeping them as is, even though I’m sure they’d do better in the marketplace with more traditional labels.
Seems like he’s doing pretty good already!
Exactly. I never understand rebranding initiatives when the prior branding clearly works fine. His problem isn’t the marketplace, his problem, if you can see it as a problem, is not being able to produce enough to satisfy significant demand! that’s a great problem to have.
I’m still laughing at, and frankly quite boggled by, the Jaguar rebranding exercise.
I imagine something cute… like a roll of paper label put on. Just make sure it doesn’t look like toilet paper!

I would love to see him put the vintage on the front of the label, but that’s it. It’s always a bitch to figure out what the vintage is of each bottle.
Overall, I love the clean packaging, no capsules and a simple tape label. I’m not suggesting I want to see all wineries go this way, but this guy is an iconoclast. The look works. And that’s coming from somebody who is admittedly allured by fancy packaging. I can’t help myself.
You should look into Ovid
I’m not going to complain if he changes the label, but at the same time I certainly don’t hate the labels and I don’t actively want him to change them, other than making the vintage more clear on the front as Alf already noted.
As a consumer with an opinion but not a vote, my hope for the Jasud blend question would be that everything that makes the main estate “blend” wine better goes into that blend and only the stuff that’s left over from that exercise gets bottled separately.

As for shipping he said it has been extremely difficult and a major strain. He did it this way to save money because he hears all of the concerns from customers. He has plans in place to fix / improve it in the future.
Sadly, I bet he’s got a lot of headaches to deal with. Heard about some issues here and my shipment got mixed up (got 6x Paratus instead of 3+3 Monticello). Fixing stuff like that is a major pain because if my 3 bottles went somewhere he can’t/doesn’t get them back, that’s a big problem for him.

Yeah my shipment was messed up as well with them shipping only Paratus and no Montecillo…When I reached out he told me to keep all the mis-ships and he’d send out the missing Montecillo …I can’t imagine how much of a headache that is especially since i’m sure most of the product is highly allocated

I had the privilege of tasting the ‘22 Jasud that Ketan poured for us, along with a sample of the ‘23 Own Rooted. The ‘22 Jasud is truly outstanding. But after tasting the Own Rooted, I totally understand why he will be bottling it separately, even though it would assuredly make the ‘23 blend better. It’s pretty exciting.
For selfish reasons, I actually agree with your point regarding the rest of the Cabernet blocks (not Own Rooted). It’ll be nice to have a large enough production so that more of us will get multi-bottle allocations to track over several years.
I love the tape. My Montecillo shipping box was wrapped with Paratus tape.
Im currently traveling so hope I got the right order, neighbor put it in my fridge… well see when I get back
Same here, out of town till next week. Sitting at my work office.
Can’t get to mine til December but not sure I received it at the locker yet.
I was sent Maus instead of Monte last allocation. I kept it, figured what the hell. I know I’ll like it either way.
Im pretty sure the own rooted will be bottled separately. But as others noted and as he told me, he says blending all the blocks together creates a better jasud in his opinion instead of having separate block designates.
For now yes. But we know he will split them up when he has enough fruit to do so
Ya. Or I’m sure in certain vintages certain blocks will stand out compared to others!
There’s just not enough overall fruit to separate them yet. Once he’s got the vineyard fully producing he can do the micro climate bottlings. You may get some like the own rooted block. At that point Jasud is probably the only Napa cab I’m buying.
I just remember him telling me that he thinks Jasud is best blended together regardless of volume when I last saw him in September(outside own rooted). I’m sure that will change though.
