I’ve had it 4 times now and it gets better each time. Still needs years to reach its zenith, but so good today with all the youthful fireworks still on display:
The 2008 Dom Perignon.
What’s yours?

2019 Base Ulysse Collin Pierrières 48m? It’s fabulously complex and drinks as well as any young champagne for present enjoyment. 3/3 bottles in the past year were excellent
13 Cristal; had it many times recently and it’s drinking well.
Krug 164. Haven’t had one in a long while, but it was on fire right after release and the few times I’ve had it since. I have one (or gods willing, two) left.
Define young? Is it based on vintage or disgorgement date? If by DG, 96 Salon DG 21. If by vintage, 13 Comtes.
2012 Selosse is both the best young Champagne (I think it was the second bottle tasted by anyone other than the Selosses) I’ve had and the best Champagne I’ve had period, despite really enjoying mature Champagne. So concentrated and expressive; so complex; so powerful, yet completely balanced. Best mouthfeel and maybe the best bubbles I’ve experienced with a Champagne.
07 Salon is drinking absolutely fabulously right now.
I’m not sure I would classify 07/08 as particularly “young” today - maybe a few years ago - but given the OP example…
For truly young, 13 Cristal Rosé could be the best Champagne ever made.
I loved the 1995 Blanc des Millénaires when it was younger. Had several bottles of that and preferred it much more in its infancy.
08 DP would be the worst for me! Best would be 08 comtes probably. Took enormous willpower to send mine away to storage.
It was great upon release, then shut down tight.
2006 Comtes was stunning young and has never shut down.
I wonder when 08 Comtes will actually start to drink well.
08 dom was pretty good earlier this year.
I agree. I remember posting glowing tasting notes and some commenting “it’s good but will never be great”. I was a champagne newbie, and that experience got me to trust my own palate.
Lots of great choices.
To be clear(er), I had the 08 Dom again recently and that bottle (though also still young tasting) reminded me how blown away I was the first time I tried it in 2020.
But it is still playing the cards close to the vest, whether you call that tight ir closed, it seems clear it best days are ahead, like many 08 bubblies.
I had a Selosse Initial recently — I didn’t note the disgorgement info — that was off the charts good. I’ve not had a vintage Selosse, but I can imagine how awesome that would be.
Somehow ended up buying a bottle 2012 Selosse Millesime at a steal of a price a few weeks ago. Gonna sit on it for 20+ years lol
Just scored some of the 07 Millenaires, hope it is anywhere near as good as the 95.
I have enjoyed Roederers Collection Series from release, especially 242 and 244.
‘85 Krug when it was first released. We splurged on two bottles. Drank one shortly after purchase and we were blown away.
I imagine it’ll be incredible whenever you open it. Even when I had it pre-release, it was so rich and complex.
