Since there are a number of Berserkers here who ship wine from CA to NY or NY to CA (which I need to do) I was hoping you might have recommendations on the best way to track weather. Going state by state seems painfully inefficient.
I wish I knew this too. Once UPS has it you enter a blackout period untill it pops up in your town or the one other city just before. You can never tell if it went through Las Vegas on its way or through Montana.
Yahoo Weather used to have a great page on their website where one would enter a freeway number and a date and it would give you weather and forecast at major cities along the route. I used it all the time when planning shipping. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to exist any more.
WeatherUnderground has the ability to plot a route to a destination, determine departure time, and see weather forecasts along the route at the predicted time you would pass through. http://www.wunderground.com/roadtrip/
I’d also love to hear if someone finds something better.
Tempcast by Intellicast has national and regional temperature forecasts by region and for the whole country over a period of time from the present to several days out, in 3-hour increments. You can toggle between national and regional views and select how far into the future to forecast. Pretty cool! Or hot, as the case (so to speak) may be!
Here’s what I use, not sure if the link will get you there. Go to weather.com, select the Maps → Current Temps link near the top. That will bring up a national map with an array of temperatures. In the menu along the top select Extended Forecasts. Now you can pick the future day and night projected temps for the next 10 days.
