Kind of like the title says. Looking into arranging some tastings in Burgundy, but a lot of producers don’t have readily available websites/emails. What is the best way to contact them to try and arrange visits?
Thanks!

@moderators Can this be moved to the Wine Tourism forum before it gets going? That’s really where people will be looking for it and where it will be most useful, I think.
If they don’t have readily available contact info online, it’s usually because they don’t want you to contact them for a visit. See this thread from yesterday for more details.
Would you say that includes ones that only have a phone number listed on Google? Or is it worth attempting a call to check?
Maybe if you speak French?
So, any suggestions then? It seems like all the recognizable names are kinda the same where there’s only a number listed. And I’ve had the same experience with big names as the thread you linked: ‘we don’t take visitors’
It would seem that boils it down to smaller producers people don’t know as well, but I don’t know those as well either! I’d love to know if there are reccs out there to narrow it down and find somewhere good to visit!
You can also try contacting wineries and winery owners via instagram, not sure how successful you’ll be if you haven’t interacted with them in the past.
There are several threads about this, but if you don’t have any connections, it basically boils down to the big houses: Jadot, Drouhin, Bouchard, et al. But don’t necessarily assume you don’t have any connections. Talk to other wine drinkers you know and if they have frequented Burgundy in years past, they may be able to grease some wheels for you.
Im never sure where the line is there. I do have several I’ve interacted with a good bit on Instagram, but that have a very clear “Do not ask for appointments via DMs” policy listed on their instagram profile. I guess that’s kinda one of those things where if they wont take a request via DMs when there is a history of chatting there…. Does it really matter if that bridge gets burned?
I think it’s like anything else; if they like you then maybe it’ll work out. Certainly if you have rapport with someone it’s more likely it will.
You can always try to time your visit so that you attend one of the events such as (non trade) fairs or village festivals. Gevrey Chambertin has one. Mostly less known names, but sometimes the big ones play along. Those tend to be chaotic but if you hit it off with whoever mans the stand perhaps you can arrange a more leisurely tasting.
Maybe reach out to Bill Nanson, everyone I know that has hired him has had a positive experience.
Just go to Germany instead. With a polite email and genuine interest you can visit 98% of houses.
Though there is no equivalent to Beaune market.
Yeah bill and steen both do winery visits afaik.
Or even Beaujolais! More beautiful than the Cote de Nuits… But of course not the same.
Also not QUITE as easy a trip from Paris for a night or two
Almost as easy to fly to Frankfurt as Paris.
