Best quality SCM winery with a view

Been looking through the forums but can’t find any recent recs.

My father is going to Santa Cruz and I’m looking to arrange a tasting for him in a quality winery with a great view in the mountains (windward side) within about a half hour of Santa Cruz, open Saturday or Sunday. More interested in a relaxed tasting vs. a tour.

Leaning towards Silver Mountain, since I’ve really enjoyed their wines, but open to hearing recs.

Probably the boring response, but I’d send him to lunch in Los Gatos and then over to Testarossa. As someone who lived at the intersection of Bear Creek Road and Hwy 9, I’d much rather hang out in Los Gatos and drink fantastic Pinot.

Edit: my wife concurs

Beauregard is in the redwoods near Bonny Doon is also excellent. No panoramic views but a pretty spot on the mountain with cozy tasting room and great outdoor redwood grove tables.

Can you bring your own fantastic Pinot to Testarossa? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ok, fantastic was a bold adjective. It’s good Pinot  Comment was made more in the context of not wanting to drive around the area after drinking a bunch of wine, in general.

I haven’t been to Silver Mountain for decades, but sounds like it works.

Mount Eden is not open weekends. If you can do a weekday, you have fantastic views and truly great wines. Thomas Fogarty is still somewhat under the radar, but could be the right visit.
I have not been to Storrs in Coralitos, but the wines are excellent. They are focused on Chard and Pinot, but the Zins and Grenache are eye-opening.

I ruled Mount Eden and Ridge out because of their distance from Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, he’ll be passing over from the bay right as they both close on Friday.
