I was going to say Talenti, but then I read some of the comments above. Haven’t had Talenti in a while. So sad. I kinda wish they had a premium vanilla product or something and passed on the cost…
But, I’ll put in my vote for Coolhaus Tahitian Vanilla Bean “Sammie” (ice cream sandwich). Some of the best quality vanilla ice cream I’ve ever tasted. Though to be fair, I have not had this in a long time either.
When you want to take a break from the search for the holy grail, Tilamook ice cream is very good and even Target carries it. A recently discovered ice cream for us, the mouthfeel and taste is extra creamy, and the flavor combos are yummy. I recommend their “Udderly Chocolate” served over a Ghirardelli brownie made with walnuts.
“Your mystery flavor has been revealed! Inspired by late-night cravings, we’ve added crunchy chocolate-covered pretzels, sweet and salty peanut butter cups, and fudgy brownie pieces to a rich and tasty malt ice cream.”
We would all like a taste, because it seems impossible, But how is that company doing who sold Turkey dinner Soda? That’s just not a sustainable product line.
I cant believe more people haven’t mentioned Jeni’s. if you are a chocolate fan, the Darkest Chocolate is the single most chocolatey ice cream I have ever had. personally, my favorite is the Peanut butter with Chocolate Flecks (previously known as “Buckeye State”) or Bangkok Peanut (which might now have a new flavor but is essentially peanut butter ice cream with curry).
I’ve had Tilamook at the creamery in Oregon and it was awesome. When they recently came to my local supermarket I was excited but was not impressed. It has a unique mouthfeel but something just doesn’t seem right about it to me, and didn’t love the flavors we tried either. Not terrible, but not what I’d hoped for either.
