I use cashbackmonitor (Wine.com Best Reward Rate History by Cashback Monitor) to see when rakuten will typically raise the cash back rate. Last year on 4/15 they raised the rate to 10%, and on 5/6-5/13 they raised it to 15%. Of course, no guarantees for the future, but I would recommend stockpiling coupons that expire after those dates and pool all your orders on those dates in order to maximize the discounts.
I just tried a few of the codes listed in this thread, specifically going after the Krug. Got this message: “Only shipping discounts can be applied to this product.” Perhaps they changed the rules. Oh well.
Been using the wineaccess.com $50 referral and the spend $150 get $50 off AMEX offers. Got this on my personal AMEX Hilton and my wife’s AMEX. Got a bottle of Opus One for $150 off. Also got a bottle of Cote Rotie La Belle Helene 2015 for $150 off with another referral.
You get a $50 discount on your first order via referral. If you have an Amex offer like I did, it gave $50 off a $150 purchase and can be used 3x. A $300 purchase triggers the $50 credit twice. I bought the bottle of Opus One for $365 and got the $50 first time customer from a referral discount plus $100 back from Amex. So the $365 bottle of Opus One was $215. My second order I just got $50 off the order over $150.
I used my wife’s AMEX and sent her a referral. Got another $150 off the first order (over $300) and then used my $50 referral bonus with her remaining $50 Amex offer.
This combo is INSANE! Their selection is not extensive, but I put together a small order for a little over $200 that netted to a little over $100 with free shipping. Included in my order were two bottles of NV Laherte Freres Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature at about $30 net each (pre-discount is $60)! Now if I had only entered through the Rakuten portal on Valentine’s day . . .
Here is my referral code if anyone would like to use it
