Best Beach Wine - Your Opinion?

Preparing for a trip (tropical storms willing) Labor Day week. G&Ts and beer are required, but of course wine is the third leg of the stool. Perusing the cellar got me wondering what others prefer at the beach. At the moment I’m understandably more white than red (Pinot Blanc, Tocai, Sauv Blanc, obligatory Chard for the mother-in-law). Reds are a Copain P2, lighter Sonoma Coast Pinot; am debating others.

Obviously a matter of personal opinion, but what’s your quintessential beach wine?

Miner Family viognier.

Chateau St. Jean Robert Young pinot blanc.

They both taste just fine out of the ice chest and into a plastic wine glass.

Have a great beach trip!

Adega de Moncao Vinho Verde Muralhas de Moncao Rose’ (effervescent) from Portugal–not that easy to find but a great summer picnic, patio or beach wine.
New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or Albarino from Spain would be another choice.
Maybe a chilled Beaujolais Villages or Beaujolais Cru.

is this for sitting on the beach while the sun sets, or for meals at the beach?

Anyway, for the former (and maybe the latter), I’d include some bubbles. Perhaps a Prosecco or California sparkling. Not worth getting into specifics, because it’s what’s available to you.

Is there any activities at the beach?
if so… probably Gatorade… or Water…

Go home, shower, clean up, then drink wine…

Vinho Verde. the cheap stuff. low alcohol is key. alternating with plenty of water.

tried these over the weekend…it’s wine in a can so expectations were low. Perfect for the beach and activities, especially for a mixed crowd:

The Pinot Gris was preferred over the Pinot Noir

Light crisp rose.

Txakolina Rose. Lots of it.

Is this a trick question? Bandol rose, of course!

We live 6 minutes from the beach so we keep a lot of beachy wines for the summer.
Chablis Chablis Chablis
Arnot-Roberts Trousseau
Liquid Farm Pink Crack
White field blends (more A-R, Bedrock etc.)
Southern Italian whites
and bubbly of course

Bubbles or Rose. The Copain from your cellar is a pretty light wine that would work well.

'nother vote for Gatorade and gin with a float of bubblies.

lol

This year it is Schloss Gobelsburg Rose. Nice tiny refreshing spritz.

yes this. aligote and bourgogne are good too.
Sancerre Pinot Rose, Chinon Rose and Mentou Salon are my three favorites

A crisp, fresh, low alcohol Verdejo from Rueda.

I think Vouvray is probably my #1 beach wine, and roses are up there as well.

Puligny Montrachet.

Scherrer or Bedrock rose. The Scherrer even comes with a twist off cap.
