I am proud to introduce the wines of Roger et Julie Belland of Santenay!!
This 6 generational family domaine, both firmly traditional and progressive, is producing wines that are admirably complete: substantial in stuffing, with expressions faithful to their classical terroirs, as well as an accessible deliciousness of gourmandise (read “Yumminess”). Daughter Julie has a very clear vision of what she is looking to achieve, and has hit the mark with increasing consistency. Varied degrees of whole cluster fermentation have become the norm for virtually all reds. Their holdings are amazing…the monopole Chassagne Montrachet 1er Clos Pitois is quite a gem. They are also the majority owner of the Criots Batard Grand cru, inquire if interested. Both 2008 and 2010 vintages are available…
The value offered by these wines is sicko. When I hear people bemoan the lack of value in Burgundy, I will point them here and say, “rock it before you knock it”.
