We can offer up our winery in Lompoc as a location. We have TONS of room… and a fully equiped kitchen (Viking appliances - 2 ovens, 6 burner stove with a grill, 2 dishwashers). Our kitchen space is huge, with an island big enough to do an elephant autopsy on (just guessing as I have never actually performed one). We can use our lab as a prep area as well (2 sinks, huge island). We also have 3 (yes 3) refigerators. And 5 really nice bathrooms.

And our parking lot has about 80 parking spaces - room to park and even set up some outdoor grills.

We could easily handle upwards of 200 people.

I know Lompoc isn’t the coolest town in the world, but there are a lot of hotel rooms. Nothing too fancy - the best hotels in town are the Holiday Inn Express and the Embassy Suites. But it is the most affordable place to stay in the area. It won’t break the bank doing the event in Lompoc.

Plus, we could do some extensive barrel tasting as well. And maybe Cargasacchi would grill up some gopher and penguin for us.

Currently, the only weekend in March that we couldn’t do it would be Mar 20-21.

This sounds awesome Brian. I really like this idea.

OK, Brian and I have communicated behind the scenes and have a plan of attack. We will take the lead on this and run with it if everyone is cool with that.

I’m late to the party here but put Francine and me down for this!

I doubt that we’d be able to get tee times at Alisal Ranch on a weekend (usually reservered for Resort guests). La Purisma would be a closer choice or perhaps Rancho San Marcos or the Vandenberg AFB course. Any locals there have any thoughts? I could probably get a few threesomes on Santa Maria Country Club but I suspect we would really need to get times for about 8-10 foursomes.

Maybe we can set up some sort of Berserker golf tourney at Alisal Ranch. It’s right there in Solvang and a pretty solid course. Plus, for all you movie buffs, it’s the golf course featured in Sideways… It seems to me that a golf event would only further satiate any drinking/prop-betting desires one might have…

I am totally down for that…

I just went to the Embassy Suites site and put in AAA rates and found a very interesting bit of info. We picked 4 nights (3/11 - 3/15) and I still show the $134/night. When I select a different number of night I get a differnt price per night. Saturday only came up with the $189/night rate.
