BerserkerDay 15 Master Thread (Jan 26, 2024) WOW! WE DID IT! RECORDS SET ACROSS THE BOARD!

Well done folks @ToddFrench , @brigcampbell , @Siun_O_Connell , @Patrick_Taylor

For this year…

  • I liked the diversity of offers.
  • Things felts a bit more concise and focused, I don’t know if that was by design but it just felt that way.
  • Loved the MC offers, I picked up a few and it seemed popular.
  • Some auctions seemed to go at steals this year, Jeeze, wish I was paying more attention but I had more distractions this year.
  • I perceived a good amount of support for newbies, which is good karma
  • I know you had to yank Preview at some point however there’s no good answer there given the circumstances. Reading is Fundamental yet sometimes your partners need to assist is what I took away
  • Loved the raffle and supporting a worthy charity, need to press that more. Also happy I won something.
  • Not sure if you recorded the drawing and the build up to the crescendo, but maybe do and make it available as I could not attend and would have watched later, especially if you touched on how it helps the cause, hearing it first hand delayed.

That’s what I got now, going to move to a bourbon, hugs and kisses.

Thanks for the feedback Rich – and Berserker spirit!

Truthfully, there were at least a few offers where I just swiped left in the modern terms. Some editing (coaching) could have benefited in terms of reaching their audience. “Hi”, “Punchline”, “Offer”, “Briefly about Me”. This is speed dating with some balance as we’re not heartless. New offers are coming quickly though. Time is a thing. I love and know that all have a great story yet the message needs to be focused when its basically a stampede. Not all get preview. If someone has to search for the “what”, its a lost opportunity.

Thanks Brig

Well, had my fingers crossed for the Coche, but didn’t do too badly today…I won some stoppers, my wife won a JJB gift Card, and the surprise of surprises…local liquor store called and I won the raffle for the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection they got this week, so walked in the door tonight with a bottle of BTAC WL Weller purchased for retail price. :sunglasses:

Great BD15 to Todd, Brig, and all those many others who put a shit ton of work into this day. My wife saw the Love146 video and immediately took out her phone and sent $100…this is important, good charity and I never feel bad about giving, even the years our names don’t get drawn.

Cheers!

The Damage:

  1. Neely 6er.
  2. Big Basin 6er.
  3. 3L 13’ Ridge Monte Bello – Richard is the BOSS. This is officially the trophy of my MB trophies.
  4. Went hard on Sander and Hem for 4 6ers (two cases), now to deal with my allocation separately…
  5. Patricia Green 6er.
  6. Matthiason 2 3packs (6er). Super geeked about this because I have always wanted to try their wines.

In non BD deals–I caught wind of the infamous Underground Cellar public liquidation before they actually sent the emails. Found a couple deals that couldn’t be passed up for some 13’ Viluko Reserve Cab and 16’ DRM Cab. I’ve had these wines and they cleared pre-shipping at $22 and $10 per bottle each so just had to pull the trigger. I don’t want a case of each but have some friends who are learning wine so will be sharing some with them.

Didn’t see this offering listed. Perhaps an oversight?

I think you’re spot on about some of the offers needing to be more concise. Several of the listings were a burden to get through amidst the rush of things. I too didn’t really bother with offers that were essentially only $10ish off from retail price (especially for newbies).

I like the idea of posting the newbie offers towards the very beginning of the day. By the time they rolled out yesterday, I was already at my limit (Young Inglewood unfortunately being a casualty - I’ll definitely be looking for them next year, as I’ve heard great things).

Also, it seemed as though a number of newbie tasters were a bit late in posting their review/tasting notes. Not sure if that was a widespread issue but I noticed Todd had to nudge a few to do so.

IIRC, Saunter has closed and doesn’t have much wine left. They must not have been able to able to put together a Monopole-only offer.

Same!

I found the tags very helpful in going through the offers.

Double-bacon egg croissants for the win over here this morning. It’s soaking up more wine than I usually drink in a night.

Thanks! Did you finally get used to the smell of your credit cards burnin’?

3 fraud alerts, one requiring a call with the company in question to confirm the insane behavior. Smelled like old school heavy Christmas lights on a cheap plastic tree.

Great feedback

  • We’ll definitely need to make some changes for newbies. Tasting notes need to be in the offer before it’s posted
  • We probably should make that available to all offers so the offers are ready to roll when they’re launched.
  • Newbie launch times will need to be expanded, IMHO
  • 100% agree about the format of the offer especially for newbies. Believe it or not we try. Lol
  • There are always challenges with the usage of the forum software for people that are not regulars. There are challenges for people that are regulars!
  • I think Todd and I have come up with a way to auto launch all the offers next year. There’s an enormous amount of administration required to move and shuffle stuff around. That led to a few misfires
  • We want to make sure not to stifle the creativity of a particular offer. Sometimes crazy works

Keep them coming, we’re listening

First we have Dick’s. And Todd cut the cheese. Now that’s a Berserker’s Day!!

One “issue” is that there really is no way to stop someone from buying some of the offers on Thursday-unless the seller doesn’t make them live until Friday .

But great job all around. I do think there is a bit too much “fluff” some of the offers-maybe have some of them “cut to the chase” a bit earlier in their listing .

I actually thought that the Newbies who were Berserker Businesses were smart. They got the full Preview Day for review, and that was where I made my two Newbie purchases. I would be curious to see how they fared versus the rest of the pack that didn’t hit until Friday.

It feels like there was a lot of purchasing from the Preview forum on Preview day, or people saving the links and then not waiting for the proper launch time on BD. I don’t see how you can possibly control that, short of not having any links in the offers at the time (which would be a logistical nightmare I’m sure).

My feedback would be I think the MC/GCC Preview Day purchase offers are enough to keep that group busy on Preview Day. The only preview they should get for the BD offers is the names of the Producers.

Exactly. It gets even more complicated because not every offer uses links to a hidden package on their site. Some use a checkout code, some say call me to order, some just email me.

That’s just not possible. We need to keep it simple.

I like your suggestion a lot. Preview is a list of producers and maybe a one liner on the offer
