Bernard Bachelet 1991 Maranges la Fussiere

Best value I have had in Burgundy in a long time and maybe in any wine. Paid $20 about a year ago. Not great depth or length. Just really enjoyable and beautifully balanced mature Burgundy.

Thanks for your note as I have an order of '93 on the way. Ex-domaine iirc.

25 year old Maranges, that’s awesome. Wines like this are more exciting to me than trophies. Maybe that’s my budget talking but still.

And, I’ve got some of this '91 coming from Envoyer in similar manner.
Thanks, Howard!

I love both, of course. But I can really get excited about something like this. There sometimes is just something special about a really good well aged simpler wine.

Thanks for the note, Howard. I bought two of these. One was just as you describe and we enjoyed it over two nights and it held up well. The second, unfortunately, was spoiled.

I have also had a couple of these. One was really nice, the other mildly corked.

I have one more. You guys have me nervous. Seems like you only get one good one.

isn’t his this father of the 2 brothers from Bachelet-Monnot nowadays?

Got around to opening one last night and Howard’s brief note here nails it.
A lot of enjoyment for $25 and fun to see what a 25 yr old Maranges can do.
Wish I had bought more than two when offered. [cheers.gif]
