Agreed. One of the best Moscato d’Asti out there. Excellent producer. If you haven’t tried their Bianco, seek it out. It is a blend of Cortese, Arneis, Sauvignon and I think Favorita (in some vintages). Stylish and crisp. On the west coast it is usually about $15-$18 retail.
I posted a note last year stating this as THE top Moscato D’Asti I had all last year based on precisely your point – it had more complexity and verve than the usual Moscatos.
There is nothing quite like a good Moscato d’Asti that is young and fresh. I have had my share of flat/cooked Moscatos over the years but I think that was more due to poor handling/shipping conditions than anything else.
@Chris – this is indeed the one and their “Su Reimond” Moscato D"Asti is even BETTER as it is a rare single vineyard Moscato that personally finally convinced me that single vineyard wines are indeed a step above.
Pretty sure Jay is referencing Vittorio Bera which is a Dressner import. Great wine that I worked with a few years ago. Their Barbera is also fantastic.
That label is Vittorio. Just be advised this is vintage stuff and Moscato is something to drink very fresh, imho. WX has the '10 and the current release is '11.
