Benchmark Summer Clearance

Yes and when the peice went up 30% thay would suck as well

If you’re so inclined, can you share any knowledge you have of this wine that I bought for $44?

2009 Fleury Estate Winery BDX

Cellartracker average price is $182.

I’ve actually bought some Fleury wines in the past on substantial discount and they were acceptable given the discount. Modern for sure. I’m thinking this wine may either be over the hill or about to fall off the hill, but I really don’t know.

Yeah, there were some great deals with this sale after years of mediocre sales and no deals. I’m beginning to think that someone entered the wrong prices. I saw the email during the middle of lunch on Wednesday and searched the Oregon wines on my iPhone immediately. I did not see any PGC Notorious. I was having some difficulties checking out with my phone, but I ended up with a case of wine including 4 x WS Koosah Chardonnay, 3 x WS XNovo PN, 4 x LF Bunker Hill Chardonnay and 1 x PGC Mysterious PN. I didn’t have time to sort by prices. And I misspoke upthread. The Koosah was $36, X Novo was $39, Bunker Hill was $30 and PGC was $39…

I’m a bit annoyed that I didn’t spend more time browsing this because I had access Tuesday night before it went live and all I bought was the Moreau. Oh well.

Evergreen statement for the Wine Berserker

Anyone else feel like the prices have gone up a bit since the sale opened?

Has anyone tasted their goods? Would love to see notes on the odd lots. I went deep on Lang & Reed Cabernet Franc - Franc de Pied 2010… feels like a winning scratch off ticket. I emailed the winery to learn more about it, but didn’t receive a response.

I opened a 2005 Pax Alder Springs Syrah. Wine was pristine, drank beautifully over two nights.

I have had 2 oxidized 1er cru chablis (2018 fwiw) and am in contact with them now.

Are prematurely oxidized bottles (from a region notorious for premox) their problem?
Interested to hear what they say.

Thread drift…why does Benchmark, and so many other retailers, now mostly sell 6 pack lots? It’s annoying. I don’t always want to buy in quantities of 6. Coupled with their bizarre shipping practices and costs, can’t see many instances where I’d buy again.

It’s worth its own thread. I think that answer is that they’re taking your order and money then buying overseas for cheaper to fulfill your order, aka gray market. Someone more knowledgeable can correct me if I’m wrong.

So it’s a blessing and a curse — the practice often seems to create much better pricing, but you’re always forced to buy 6 or 12 on prearrival.

I’m like you, I rarely want to buy six of something, especially a more expensive wine.

Right on. The first half-dozen plus results on many Winesearcher Pro results these days are all 6 pack offers. Attractive pricing, sure, but I don’t need 6 of everything!

Can filter for only single bottles. Otherwise, I agree it’s annoying

Wait. You can? How?-I’ve searched for that filter.

I had never done this before myself, but I just looked. If you do to the pull-down menu for ā€œBottle Size,ā€ and select ā€œBottles,ā€ you filter out all the offers which require a purchase of more than one.

Perfect. I never filtered from the front page or paid it much attention tbh. Wow. Been grumbling about this for months- an easy fix! Thanks!

Well, at least to the extent Wine-Searcher actually remembers and applies your filters. I feel like it does it about half the time (mostly, I have to keep manually switching to USA over the whole world).

Did they agree these bottles were covered by their guarantee?

Not the hidden discovery I hoped for. Pizza wine / gifting wine. Not bad for the price, so no regrets. There are other wines I would have preferred for the same price.
