Each release has a hardcore cellar defender for me (OVZ, Lulu, Cali Syrah) so I usually fill up mostly on those plus some choice additions each release.
Bedrock and Carlisle, the two deepest parts of my cellar. I still drink the zins in the 4-5 year window but I try to hold back a bottle to see how they age.
According to Morgan’s social media, looks like boxed Lulu only in select markets - CA+NY.
I got an email from Tablas Creek stating 2/14 will be the release date of their boxes of 2022 Patelin de Tablas Rosé. Are they doing a coordinated plan to make sure we all stock up on boxes of Rose for the summer/fall?
Any professional reviews for these?
We don’t need no stinking professional reviews.
According to cellar tracker, I consumed the following number of bottles of Lulu (by vintage) that I purchased (excludes bottles owned by others):
2021 - 23
2020 - 29
2019 - 16
I’ll likely grab at least 2-2.5 cases of that, brings the average shipping price per bottle wayyyyy down at least
I don’t think I get the new release emails anymore, unless somehow they are getting caught up in my spam filter. I have not ordered any in about 18 months, but would definitely would like to order from this offering. I see from the website that I still have an account. In the last six months, I have backfilled about a case, and a half from some of the recent WineBid offerings. Grabbed about six from Once and Future as well. Such an excellent wines across the board.
Big backfill chance at Schneider’s DC right now, lots of stuff back to 2011/2012 at decent pricing
I saw that. I missed the 2014 Oakville farmhouse. I would’ve cleared those out.
I check most personal emails on my phone. occasionally, I’ve unsubscribed by mistake. I think there is a prohibition against contacting you to make sure it was intentional.
I sent them an email just to check in. If I lost my privileges and I am back on a wait list, that is cool as well, serves me right.
Vinous has reviews.
I wish they were releasing the Lulu boxes through the mailing list instead of just CA and NY.
Bummed about the Lulu market limit, I volunteer to be a shipping Guinea pig to other markets!
Always buy some Bedrock. Love their stuff. And I always finish it within a year - never get to the aging part! But I prefer their single varietal/vineyard releases, as blends never interest me much personally (not saying blends in general can’t be delicious, but for me they have no point of view or specificity that excite me). Unless it’s a field blend, then I’m in of course.
Has anyone successfully pre-ordered the boxed LuLu in the New York area? I’m curious about the price?
The wine isn’t for sale until the release on 2/14.
I have been splitting an order with a local friend for years. Probably average bringing about 18 bottles of Bedrock into my house each year, which adds up even at my meager accumulation rate.
No hard or fast rule on when to drink, but at this point I usually grab what’s oldest. I think you can find a lot of pleasure in almost all of them at nearly any stage, although some absolutely benefit from some air time.
2/14 is when the release opens to the mailing list. The LuLu 3L box is not part of that release if I read the Instagram post correctly. In the New York area it is being sold via Polaner Selections to your local B&M store. There could be others but I’ve only seen mention of Polaner so far.
