Bedrock Fall 2023 release. Save the date Tuesday July 18, 2023

Agree. Bedrock deserves serious kudos for producing great wine while chiseling away at some of the (environmentally problematic) BS adornments of traditional fine wine production, namely big fat bottles and capsules.

Environment and fitting in rack, yes and yes, plus the comment about being back-friendly to those schlepping cases really resonated with me.

Those drinking windows are surprisingly long. Surprising in a good way. Some are a decade or more longer than I had estimated on my spreadsheet. I guess I will have to put back in the cellar the three bottles I was going to drink tonight. Not to mention the three that my wife was going to drink.

I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of Bedrock wines I wished I had opened sooner.
I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count the number of Bedrock wines I wished I had waited on, however.

And I am 80-100% the other way. I love the joy of these wines when they are released.

Generally, I tend to agree. However, the exceptions (in my experience/opinion) are numerous enough that I tend to want to err on the side of waiting a bit, but my enthusiasm often gets ahead of me.

Again we are on opposite sides of the fence. That’s OK.

One of these days you’ll see the light my friend, ha!

When we finally meet up ill bring an ‘older’ Bedrock. I bet you dig it!

It is pretty awesome that they added drinking windows to the website! Super helpful for sure, but i agree with Morgan when he says they that they were conservative, as i know from recent experience that some of them (for my tastes) can easily be extended. For example, the 08 Bedrock/Bedrock lists 2025 and i would add at least 10+ years to that (opened one last Thanksgiving). And 09 Rebecca’s pinot says drink through 2024 and i feel confident it will still be drinking well through 2030. Similar to Carlisle/Mike O’s drinking windows, this is a very helpful guide…but I’ll take the over on most of em

@Morgan_Twain-Peterson first off thank you!
And second, any suggested window for the 09 Ancient Vine syrah? I don’t see that bad boy listed. Thanks!

Order in, no allocation of Semillon. Not even a wishlist?

Is it that time of the year already? Time flies by when life is busy and you don’t have time to play wine geek.

In for 3 each of Bedrock, Evangelho, and Old Hill, plus a few OVZ. Wishlisted a bottle of Compagni Portis and some Dolinsek (which I didn’t know was tight production - not like I’m a longtime buyer or anything though).

Mixed case. 2 Dolinsek, 4 Katusas, 2 Beeson, 4 OVZ

18

6 Evangelho
4 Lucien
4 Old Hill
2 Bedrock
1 Roussanne
1 Semillon

Kept it to a case this time:
6 OVZ
1 Bedrock
1 Evanghelo
1 Dolinsek
2 Compagni Portis
1 Roussanne

Was there a wishlist option for the Sem? Both allocation and wishlist said n/a when I was logged in.
Was able to wishlist one after emailing Jackie.
