2024 Ode to Lulu Rosé, California - 3L Bag-in-Box

As usual, the wine is based around ancient Mourvèdre grown in the delta sands of Oakley and Antioch. These 120+ year old vines put out balanced crops of deeply flavored fruit with great natural acidity that are a perfect vehicle for delicious rosé. Picked specifically for rosé at lower potential alcohol and whole-cluster pressed, the wine is both vibrant and dense, filled with grapefruit, stone fruit, and herbs. For us, the best rosé reflects a balance of seeming antonyms— vibrant but dense, pale but rich, delicate but mouthfilling, airy but grounded—and this is our goal each year we make the wine. We feel like 2024 is a great success.

$290 per 3-Pack of BiBs (Ground Shipping Included)

I grabbed 3 of the 3 packs on Tuesday. It’s my Wife’s daily drinker.

So that’s a full 750ml case-equivalent of rose in a box, if my math is right? Comes to about $24/bottle.

I really enjoyed this rose and liked the format. It’s very effective.

Yes, each 3 pack = 1 case of wine. $290 includes freight.

I was in for 4 3-packs, we went through 9 and a bunch of bottles last summer, and as everyone knows, this just makes it was more convenient to have at the ready

Wish I had refrigerator space

If you make a 6+ spring purchase, the math probably didn’t work on a per bottle basis. It was $22 a bottle last year.

Would be nice if the boxes were part of that offer. I’d be into it at $255.

The convenience of being able to space out a glass over multiple days without burning a full bottle easily saves the $35 in my house… not to mention the possible environmental impact.

Ain’t that the rub.

How do we weigh shipping emissions vs recycling-ability vs plastic products that are made from petroleum?

Yeah I won’t speculate on that reality and will leave it to the experts. There are many variables for sure.

The BIB price includes shipping.

Yes, but purchasing during offers typically includes $35 flat rate shipping on orders of 6+ bottles. Assuming you want a case of lulu and other items, it’s cheaper going with individual bottles, right? I understand that this is not about money, it’s about the environmental impact, but i too noticed BIB is more costly.

This is the cheapest wine that I buy in bulk every year, I’ll pay the $2 as a convenience fee.

My hesitancy is two fold.
One that’s a commitment to just one wine that I normally only order a few bottles of and consumption will likely need to be in a concentrated period of time. I bought a beautiful boxed GSM from Linne Calodo and they recommended consuming open boxes within two weeks and all boxes within six months.

Theres feedback that lulu last longer than that i believe. I do have experience but have read that from others on here

I think it has to do with the bladder more than the wine in the bladder,

I had a box of Lulu open for about six weeks and it was definitely more than six months past ‘bottling’, as I opened it the weekend after Thanksgiving. It was completely fine the entire time. In fact I don’t recall it being noticeably different then the two prior boxes we consumed over the summer.

BIB introduces no oxygen after opening as the bag collapses as it drains. We’ll keep one in the fridge continuously until they are all gone. The last one as fresh as the first. YMMV.

Also if you live in an area served by Ridwell, you can cut out the valve and throw the bladder in with your plastic film.

Sorry was multi-tasking. Yep thats what i was trying to say but did very poor job. The bad/bladder/etc that they use seems to worm really well and keep it fresh, so it lasts a long time.
