Thanks to this group, I’ve secured a tour guide for our trip to Beaune. Now I’m in search of a nice hotel and any restaurant suggestions. TIA
We stayed at the Hotel Les Remperts, and loved it. Smaller boutique hotel, impeccable service and excellent breakfast in the morning - plus just a short walk from downtown.
For restaurants -
Brasserie Carnot - lunch - decent but not exceptional
La Superb - dinner - most seemed to like it, but I didn’t - if you go don’t order the steak …
Bistro des Cocottes - really liked the food, ambience and people - went back twice
Caveau des Arches - great meal
Ma Cuisine - best of the trip - foie gras was sublime
Le Table du Square - really wanted to go, but despite having a confirmed online reservation they were closed on Sunday - bummer, really wanted to go
When we were there years ago, we ate at Bissoh, and it was superb. She (owner) has deep relationships with many winemakers, so her cave was excellent. I’m sure it is still the case. We did an AirBnB so can’t help with hotels. Enjoy, as we have great memories of time spent there.
Agree, Bissoh has a bit of a sleeper wine list (and they are open on Sundays).
My wife and I loved Maison Lameloise (for food, we didnt stay there).
Hotel Le Cep is an old school hotel right in the center of Beaune.
For a cheaper option, I’ve stayed at the Ibis Styles and it was good for what it is - very close to some of the classic Beaune restaurants like Ma Cuisine and Caves Madeleine. Le Carmin (1*) has an impressive selection of half-bottles, although I didn’t find the food particularly memorable. Bistrot du Bord de l’Eau just outside the city was very nice.
We just returned from our Burgundy wine trip two weeks ago. We stayed at L’Hotel de Beaune for two nights. The American Bar was great for a night cap each evening and the rooms were spacious.
The restaurants we visited were absolutely incredible (note that we did have a car):
Le Soleil (Savigny-les-Beaune, 10 min drive from central Beaune) - lovely lunch with a small rotating menu. Enjoyed a nice bottle of 2016 Simon Bize Savigny-les-Beaune. Great service.
Les Caves Madeline - very impressive wine list, we did the tasting menu and had a 2021 Camille Thiriet Alight du Jardin. It was great, just not my favorite dinner of the trip.
La Ferme de la Ruchette (20 min drive from central Beaune) - THIS KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF! The most amazing experience, we went for lunch. So worth the drive out into the countryside. A true farm to table experience. We decided to tack on the frogs’ legs and they were lovely with a bottle of Domaine Roulot. Saw that one of the Beastie Boys was there a week after we went LOL.
Bissoh - as mentioned, this is one of the few restaurants open on Sundays so it got packed quite quickly! The sushi was very good quality, it went well with our 2019 Dauvissat La Forest!
Ma Cuisine - we were the only people there for a Monday lunch and received the most amazing service by the kind owner. He was such a gem! The boeuf bourguignon was one of the best I have ever had. Accompanied by a 2022 Domaine Pierre Guillemot Savigny-Les-Beaue Premier Cru - Aux Serpentieres.
I can’t wait to go back and try everyone else’s suggestions. Going in January was pretty great - not a soul in sight LOL!
Le Cep was great, been twice but not for a while. If you have status in the SLH chain, you’ll get some benefits. Also now bookable through Hilton but I’d check prices at the hotel’s own site before booking at Hilton/SLH.
I loved being walking distance to restaurants; , the legal alcohol limit is lower there, a half bottle with dinner could put you over (depending on size, etc).
About 30 minutes outside of Beaune but we stayed at Abbaye de la Bussiere, an old renovated abbey with beautiful grounds. They have a Michelin Star restaurant and a Somm named Freddy who is very helpful.
