Beaune dinner on a Sunday and Arbois restaurants

Hi all,

Last post on this topic was in January 18, so I reckon its time for an update.

Going to Beaune in March and the schedule have me being in Beaune on a Sunday.

On previous visits we struggled a bit to find open restaurants, but had a good experience at Beneton and an alright one at l’Expression on Sundays.

Any new restaurants you recommend or old ones that I have just missed? A nice wine list takes precedence but if the food was also good, all the better.

Afterwards, we are heading to Arbois. In the past, we had good experiences at:
Bistronome - Good food, bit short on the wine list

Grapiot - Great wine selection pre-covid. Last couple of visits seems most of the Overnoy, Bryuere, etc. got plucked. Anyone been there lately? How is the current wine list?

Maison Jeunet - Visited the old location during Covid. Food was underwhelming, but amazing wine list. Wine list has stayed the same in their new location and is it worth the drive?

Domaine de la Tournelle - Was closed when we were there last, but have heard great things.

Any other suggestions to new places or places that I have missed in the past?

Thank you in advance,

I had a very good meal at Bissou. However, that was 10 years ago and I haven’t been back since. I just checked and they’re still open on Sunday. Nice wine list, too, however it’s not online.

here you go…

Sundays are for a leisurely lunch at La Ferme de la Ruchotte. We couldn’t do dinner after that. Maybe just some light snacks or cheese if anything at all.

Great recommendations, all of them. Thank you very much.

Already booked the lunch at Ferme de la Ruchotte on the Sunday, which is always a highlight of the trip.

Great recommendation of the Le Soleil. Been meaning to visit there as well and then I reckon we will just draw straws on who’s driving the car back home.

Thanks again

Please report back. I’ll be in Beaune in a couple months and have a day without anything booked yet.

The food is light and would be a nice dinner after a big lunch.

My wife and I visited Arbois this past October. We stayed at Chateau de Germigney. Amex had a $100 offer off $500 of your stay at Relais and Chateaux properties, but not sure if it’s still available. Maison Jeunet was closed permanently by then and was in transition to a new restaurant by a young Italian Chef Francescodi Marzio. It was the best meal we had in Jura and they still have the Maison Jeunet cellar. We had dinner and lunch at the hotel. The food at Grapiot was ok and the wines you are looking for are most likely off list. We wanted to dine at Le Comptoir Kokague, a restaurant run by a Japanese couple, but they were fully booked for the dates we inquired. Enjoy!

Thank you for the feedback. Sounds like the new restaurant at Chateau de Germigney is worth a stop. Their wine list is online. Still a couple of choice bottles, but prices have increased significantly.

We’ll be driving from Dijon to Switzerland, through the Jura, around 10 August 2025. I just saw that Arbois on the way - any leads for a good lunch spot, with a good wine list? And are estates easy to visit around there? I have 0 jura wines in the cellar so no experience whatsoever (not too much of a fan of oxidative style wines).

These domaines have tasting rooms in Arbois. Domaine de la Pinte, Domaine de la Tournelle, and Domaine Stéphane Tissot. All within easy walking distance of each other. When I went in 2014, my friend and I tasted at Pinte. The server poured the whole lineup for us, 16-17 wines if I recall. You can’t go wrong tasting at any of them.

Can’t help with lunch. We only had dinner there.

Thank you - will look into it! I have heard of Tissot, but that’s it.

Can highly recommend Autour de L’Âtre for lunch.

That said, it is close to Rotailer, which is a bit south of Arbois.

For Arbois wine-tasting visit, I can add Fruitière Vinicole d’Arbois tasting room in the middle of town. It’s the local cooperative winery, but have discovered a few cool wines when we dropped in, no appointment, and they welcomed us with tasting 3 of their releases then.
