Based on the huge success and popularity of all the prior years’ ‘unicorn’ raffle, and fresh off @CFu’s über-mega raffle fundraising for LA fire victims, I’m excited to run it again, with a multiple Burgundy ‘unicorn’ options, 15 First Prizes, additional prizes forthcoming, and a way for everybody to win…read on…

A raffle with a livestream broadcast, over $10,000 in prizes!

GRAND PRIZE(S): This year, rather than one chosen bottle, adding another when a stretch goal is achieved, we’re doing a style similar to @CFu 's raffle, where the winner chooses! First 100 tickets sold (goal met 1/20/25), we have one winner who will get to choose from the list (below). Once we hit 175 tickets (goal met 1/21/25), a second winner will be eligible and will get 2nd choice. At 225 tickets, a third winner will be eligible and, likely, drawn for the third bottle. (goal met 1/22/25!! We have three Grand Prize Winners, officially!)

With the assistance of @Charlie_Carnes I’ve come up with this list of ‘unicorn’ Burgundy bottles (and added one First Growth Bordeaux mag), from which to choose: (in order of value, winner(s) can choose any, in order of draw)

  • 2016 Meo Camuzet Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux (value $2,495) (claimed by @Jorge_Henriquez )
  • 2014 Domaine Georges Roumier Bonnes Mares (value $1,795) (claimed by @Patrick_Taylor )
  • 2016 Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Clos de Vougeot (value $1,495) (claimed by @S_Lahre )
  • 2020 Chateau Haut Brion (Magnum) (value $1,295)

While MOST of us may not be able to afford this bottle, and some of us (like me) would be afraid to drink such bottles, who among us wouldn’t LOVE the opportunity to WIN one for $25!!?? Photos/media of the wines below. Express shipping directly from JJ Buckley and insurance are paid by Wine Berserkers as part of the raffle, and if you live in a state where the shipping restrictions prevent you from receiving it, we’ll figure it out, no worries.

FIRST PRIZES: BIG changes here! ) JJ Buckley has stepped up to make the value of their gift cards more appealing by increasing the total donated as well as the amounts of each, and released the requirement of splitting some for new customers, some for existing. It’s anybody-can-win, with a total of 5 gift cards at $500 each and 10 gift cards at $250 each!

ADDITIONAL PRIZES:

  • 12 ‘Wine Essential Combo Pack’ donated by @Barb_Tyree at Repour, each containing a 10-pack of Repour wine savers and a premium corkscrew ($37 value each)

STRETCH GOALS FOR CHARITY AND FUNDRAISING: Once I get to 225 tickets sold, the proceeds will be donated to charity. The charity will be to my wife’s favorite charity - Love146 (www.love146.org) - working to end child trafficking. This way, even if you don’t win one of the amazing prizes in the raffle, you DO win by contributing to two worthy causes, so no raffle ticket goes to waste and everybody wins a ‘consolation prize’.

Last year we contributed $5000 (!!!) to Love 146.org through this raffle, including a match from me and others!

An overview of what the organization does can be found here:

I actually had the opportunity to meet with two of the Love146 associates in person just a few days before last year’s raffle - I met Ramona (who some of you might remember from the video ‘thank you’ she sent us after last year’s raffle donation) and we snapped a photo after a wonderful conversation about all the incredible things the charity is doing to stop human trafficking, including working with young kids directly, through their health classes in school, in a 5-week program to help identify what ‘trafficking’ means and how their lives, and those of their friends, might be affected.

HOW TO ENTER: Each raffle ticket is $25, and you can enter as many times as you want. Each $25 raffle ticket received by me is one spot in the raffle. (links removed, raffle closed). Send your raffle ticket payments (any quantity, do NOT have to be separate transactions, i.e. if I receive $50 I know to enter you twice, and you will be assigned two raffle ticket spots/numbers, etc.). I will also post a full list of ticket purchasers, as I did last year, so you can directly reference your own name after purchasing tickets. I will also post a full list of ticket purchasers, as I did last year, so you can directly reference your own name after purchasing tickets.

ENTRY DEADLINE: All raffle ticket purchases MUST be completed by NOON Pacific on Jan 31, 2025. Any purchases thereafter will be refunded/returned.

BONUS: If invited by the Grand Prize Winner(s), I will happily fly out to join you and your circle of wine friends for the event, should you allow me to taste this unicorn juice - still hoping @B.Kelly has me over for his Coche win from last BerserkerDay!
flirtysmile

You do not have to be present on the livestream (which will be streaming on Zoom, so I can be on screen live plus show you the raffle random drawing, to assure honesty and legitimacy!) to win, I will contact you if you are not, but let’s all drink some BerserkerDay wines and make this a party! I will post the complete list of winners as I have done in the past. The livestream will feature a chat function, and I’ll do my best to man it for those who need it, but for the rest of the Berserkers on the livestream, chat about what BerserkerDay wines you are drinking.

PICS!! (note the Roumier is a ‘substitute’ bottle pic, no vintage - once the actual image is received, I’ll update)

But what about big numbers like $225? Can you handle that? What happens if I send $12.50? A buck two eighty-seven?

Thanks for checking that, Neal! Meeting some of them in person (I met Ramona, my wife and a couple of her friends went to an event hosted by Love146, met a couple others in the organization) helps as well, you can tell much from connecting on a personal level like that. They are passionate about this purpose, and it shows.

I’ll use @CFu 's ‘accounting team’ to help figure it out!
