Aymé Vadim - What to expect?

Hi fellow wine nerds :slight_smile:

First time poster here. I searched for the question at hand at could see that this has never been discussed:

Does anyone have any experience with Aymé Vadim? I was allocated bottles from some Grand Crus (Chambertin + Ruchottes) and also some 1. Cru (Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots)

Its a micro negocé (1 barrel pr cuvee) started by a molecular biologist, with late releases (meaning he only just now released his second vintage 2016 last year)

Anyway to the question. Does anyone have any experience with his wines? I have yet to taste these and i am not sure what to expect. I honestly just bought the bottles without any prior knowledge of the Maison.


I tried to visit when I was in Beaune but my schedule didn’t line up. I’ve heard great things.

Cool! I can’t wait to try them. You do get a bit anxious sitting with a Chambertin not knowing if you will like it! I guess I will share the experience with some friends and we will see!

I’d never heard of these wines before I saw this IG post today; may have to seek some out.

I’ve had a few of his wines over the past couple of years. They were both quite remarkable in a rather unusual way. Very intense (6 years of barrel age) with strong black currant aroma (from what I understand due to very long pre fermentation maceration). Definitely excellent wines but perhaps not for everyone/every occasion. I did go back and buy more though, and when I’m in the mood for this particular species of wine there’s nothing like it. They are definitely not subtle, but they do have lots of subtlety to them nonetheless… probably best not to include them in a tasting with lots of other wines but rather enjoy a bottle on its own.
