Sun Break Wines is donating a vertical 3-pack of sold out or very rare/personal use Pinot Noir bottlings from the Cortell-Rose Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley. These are all from the Marie-Paule label which is a blend of whole cluster and destemmed fermentations. The percentages vary with the vintage.

2017 Marie-Paule, Cortell-Rose Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Sun Break Wines. This was was bottled and reserved for personal use and our inaugural wine club (friends and family). Super small production: three barrels this first year for about 75 cases; 50% whole cluster, 50% destemmed. Unfiltered, unfined but clean. (Not submitted for review/ Goldilocks vintage, not too warm, not too cool, provided a lighter, more refined and elegant style than 2018.)

This is from two lots that were blended, bottled separately from the commercially-available version, and reserved for personal use and our wine club. Small production of five barrels for about 125 cases; 50% whole cluster, 50% destemmed. Unfiltered, unfined but clean. (Warm and very dry vintage, bold fruit but with with great acidity and smooth tannins. The commercially available version received 93pts/Editors’ Choice, WE)

2019 Marie-Paule, Cortell-Rose Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Sun Break Wines. This is from our sold-out bottling that was available commercially. Production increased to 6 barrels for about 150 cases; 25% whole cluster, 75% destemmed. Filtered at bottling. (91pts, WE — many wine critics don’t appreciate cooler vintages as much! This wine shows great balance, bright red fruit with a well-knit savory and tannin subtext.)
