Empty, recorked bottles and some screwcaps - DO IT!
The sauteed green beans are $9.00, btw. I presume that is a bushel of sauteed green beans…a large bushel. Salmon is $40.00. Yeah, that’s likely to own a piece of the river where the salmon was caught upstream.
Screw bringing wine - I’d bring FOOD to this place!
We enjoyed it a lot. Relax, take it for what it is and have fun. Just wandering around the place is incredible.
The restaurants in Atlantis were meh. It does look like they’ve changed some though. You usually can’t go wrong with a Nobu. The only place I remember being anything special was a bar off the casino with pre-Castro rhums and cigars. Atlantis has sitters which we used for an adult night there. Everything else was not worth the tariff, but that is how it goes.
Jean-Georges “Dune” over the the Island Club was a really good meal. A Dauvissat Chablis was not too extortionate. The food was very good and the atmosphere was nice, calm and upscale resort. We took our (then) 5 yr old son, but he is a veteran diner. It is not really a kid place though. The two resorts are linked (if you stay at Island Club, you have privileges at Atlantis). This is definitely worth doing for dinner. My wife says the Caribbean lobster was one of the best lobster dishes she has had.
The wine list and food at the Greycliff in Nassau is well-known. I can’t speak to the wines personally (friends have reported a mixed bag of condition on the old stuff) as I was there for lunch w/ my son. The food was really good and they were super-cool with us being Dad + kid, including a cigar-making tour. A day-trip to Nassau is easily done.
There was a really bad Bahamian place walking distance from Atlantis and a really good one. I could find my notes if you like. The good one was very family friendly.
As others have mentioned, wine prices are bad. But Cafe Martiniqu had a pretty nice “Captain’s List” of what they wanted to close out and the prices were basically retail. We ate there our first night and then were sorely disappointed that the other places had nothing comparable.
Went to Baha Mar last year. Stayed at the Rosewood. Pretty amazing place. They have a restaurant by Daniel Boulud. Pretty good. Probably the best wine selection in the Baha Mar area. Carna the steak place was good. Nothing memorable about it. Typical high end steak stuff. Costa, their Mexican restaurant was legit. Great place to try their signature cocktails. Hope that helps. Last, Manor Bar at the Rosewood has a fantastic spirit selection and little bar bites. Super classy place. Highly recommend it.
Anyone been to Atlantis in Bahamas lately? If so, what should I expect for the wine scene?? Any recommendations to hit? We are bring a handful of bottles with us, but would be nice to know other options. TIA
I was remiss in not updating but I just saw this pop up. If baha mar was the high end I’d say that Nassau is pretty awful for food in general. I doubt I’d ever return though our hotel in and of itself was great. We stayed at the Goldwynn which is pretty new. Generally food across the board was high end wedding at best.
If I ever went back I’d only do low end / casual. The Mexican place inside baha mar was good.
