Like I needed a reason to avoid this place…never been impressed with the food, especially for the reputation that it gets. I’ve been multiple times and have had multiple dishes when dining.
Not at all…actually $10 is a reasonable amount for corkage, especially when said place has decent glassware. My issue is that the food is lackluster and the benefit of going there was the lack of a corkage fee. Now with a corkage fee in place and mediocre food that combination is a reason to avoid. $10 corkage with good food is a welcome sight…IMHO Local 3 does not deliver on the food portion of that equation…and that is the reason to avoid.
I’m with Bowden on the food at Local Three. Two disappointing meals for me.
Not really my neck of the woods, so I haven’t gone out of the way to try again.
May need to give it another shot. Zero corkage was a nice selling point.
Need some updates from you guys. Anyone been to the new places that have just opened, like the Spence or the Optimist? Please keep updating other places as well.
I went to the Optimist. Nice little raw bar. Slightly over priced to me. OK cocktails. Some interesting beers. Wine list…eh. Our fish was hit and miss. Loved the duck fat poached swordfish, though not the other elements with it on the plate. Skate was very poor.
Late to the game, but Local 3 never charges us corkage. We call ahead and they clear it. Try the burger at lunch. Pretty good stuff. I’m a fan overall - besides, it’s not expensive, you get what you pay for… Their charcuterie is pretty darned good, too.
Long story short, Local 3 is one of the most corkage friendly restaurants in Atlanta and they do a bunch of wine events. I think we should try to support those places that actually like those of us that bring wines… Granted I agree the food has to be passable.
Going to the Spence on Sunday. I’m torn between bringing and checking out their list.
As a follow-up, went to Optimist and while they said corkage was $10, they didn’t charge us. Maybe it was because the other couple in our party ordered another bottle, or we offered a drink to our server, or they just are crazy-wine-friendly. Regardless, we loved the food there - big thumbs up. The space is nice and big - tables aren’t that cramped, it’s not crazy loud, etc.
