Good article by David. Rubicon has a special place in my heart. When I started in the wine business in 1990, it was part time while I was going back to college. The shop I worked at on weekends had a five or six year vertical of Rubicon beginning with 1979, the first release. On my first day, the manager opened one to welcome me to the wine trade. Later, I was apparently the first guest to taste Rubicon in the newly acquired Inglenook Winery. The little alcove where we tasted seemed to have a good layer of dust on everything including the vaults of Inglenook from the earlier part of the century. The alcove is still there, as is the tasting bar, but now there are caves dug in behind.
Very nicely done article by David…one of the best wine writers around.
