Arsenic in wine but more in baby formula

Arsenic is a naturally occurring substance. It’s probably in a lot of foods (like apricots, peaches, and apples) and nobody even thinks of it.

Life is a terminal disease that nobody survives. Nobody has cured death yet.

I thought the received wisdom from most winemakers/grape growers was that minerals didn’t make it from the soil into the fruit (grapes).

Arsenic is in the soil and is attracted to sulfur containing vegetables, (broccoli, brussel sprouts, garlic, etc.) It is also high in rice, especially brown rice, fish, chicken and yes our beloved wine.

If you are concerned, you can have your hair analyzed. There are a few companies that provide this service. I have used Doctor’s Data which has a test called Toxic and Essential Elements. For anyone with mercury fillings or who eats a lot of fish, this test may be a real eye-opener.

Grape seeds, apricot and peach pits, and lots of other plants absorb toxins as well as nutrients. If it’s in the soil, it’s in the plant more or less.

Yes - and cyanide too!

One of the best posts on WB in a long time. Thanks for inserting reason into the discussion.

Wow, there are at least 2 people who don’t have me on their “foe” list! [rofl.gif]

Anyway, arsenic in minute quantities is actually an unavoidable, and some think a necessary, part of your diet just like other metals (magnesium, iron, cobalt, and zinc). It’s only toxic in larger than necessary doses.

Cyanide, however, is the one to look out for. [shock.gif]
