Arista Winery closing

Just got an email that Arista Winery in Sonoma is closing. I visited there before the pandemic and they seemed to be doing very well, but their email today indicated that they are struggling financially. Not surprising given the difficulties that have been discussed on this board. But it’s a shame because Arista was one of the wineries I really enjoyed at the start of my wine journey. I still open a bottle occasionally when I’m in the mood for a wine that embraces its California roots while still exercising a reasonable degree of restraint.

Wow. Exceptional location though I never wrapped my arms around their wines.

They got to have some big dollars spent over there.

It seemed the writing was on the wall last year when they sold some of their vineyards to the Underwoods for their Jonive label.

I thought they sold the winery itself. But may be mis-remembering. Too bad, I really enjoyed a visit and subsequent wines.

Wow. That’s terrible. Carneros is a tough area to try to compete with the rest of Napa Valley, for sure, but that property really stands out.

They are on RRV murderers row (Westside Rd next door to Williams Selyem). Their zen garden is a nice place to have a glass
