Are you smarter than a somm? 20 question quiz

Damn, I had just added it to my resume.

17/20…

but to be fair, I guessed right on a couple. No American wine questions at all on my test, which surprises me that I did as well despite.

You changing careers?

Authenticator for HK auction houses?

18/20- Missed the Texas/Arizona & the Gironde one.

19/20. Messed up the Biodynamic question but I had a feeling I was making the wrong guess.
Greg did spoil that one question for me, but Franciacorta is known for sparkling wines so I would have picked Chardonnay over Pinot Grigio anyway.

18/20 - missed the biodynamic question and the Missouri AVA question.

I’m supposed to know that a river is different from a tidal estuary? I suppose if I hadn’t slept through geology in high school, I would have done better on this wine test.

19/20 - US AVA’s stumped me.

20/20

That’s what I get for reading the whole Oxford Companion to Wine.

Much to my surprise, there are new questions when you retake the quiz. For me, there were 5 with some repeats but the answer were reversed on let/ right side. 18/20 both times with only one guess on the 2nd one.

I guess my score shows that I have an anti-Iberian bias.

So you are a member of the AIWE. Charter member, maybe!

Yeah but I make up for that.

Sorry for the spoiler guys and gals! I edited the post.

The estuary/river thing was a little weird for a wine test and pretty irrelevant too, one would think. Didn’t know they were changing questions - might be fun to take again.

19/20 - Gironde got me too

18/20 but I guessed at a couple. Not very hard.

My score was 14 and yes, I suck too!

I got 18/20. Missed Tasmania as Pinot region.

There are pills for that.
