I thought I was the “wine gestapo.” VDS also called us something like “fundamentalist” wine people or something like that.
amazing.
in a couple of hours a couple of tweets starts a movement with a t-shirt.
my guess is that this will also result in some press. makes a good story ![]()

Why would you say he does not buy this stuff? Oh yeah…back in January he said this
“no interest-but MacArthur in DC is dumping many great high end Aussie shirazes”
Just to be fair, was he doing the standard “I have no commercial interest in this offer…” bit?
No.
I think so.
btw I asked if the advisory board had been consulted when they moved it over to social hall, only to have that post deleted and it moved back to wine talk. Progress? ![]()
Faryan,
I think you and Roberto are talking about different things?
What are YOU talking about is what I want to know.
Lyle,
You need to stop stalking me as well.
Mets in 2029?
I am back here for one reason and only one reason. To stalk you on every thread. Watch out Posner . . . . ![]()
Mets in 2011 I’d say.
I hate flavors*.
*Bad flavors, like burning alcohol, medicinal tastes, bitter over-extraction, and astringent or spoofy oakiness. VA, stewed fruit and excessive RS also qualify.
It’s such a wacky, and counter-productive comment, to make. Among other things, how many people who work at the WA regularly drink Aussie wines in the first place? Can you imagine David S. or Antonio Galloni regularly drinking a big, rich, massive Barossa Shiraz? I can’t. Talk about [un]friendly fire…
But even RP devotee-supreme, Jeff Leve, has said he doesn’t drink Aussie Shiraz and doesn’t usually care for it.
I enjoy a good Australian Shiraz from time to time, but even for me I have to cringe when I read this stuff.
Bruce
Outside of the Bordelais and a few notable cult wines, Parker is a poor “servant” of the wine industry, Wilfred.
I mean, how many wineries are going to benefit from Parker berating people to buy through retail overstock of high-end Aussies?
He’s the Wine Advocate Advocate.
Except for a short window at the beginning of his career he’s always been the WAA.
Now that he’s engaged in both legacy protection and brand building that tendency has increased.
Regards,
I guess the anti cosumer advocate has a new name to call people with a brain and a palate.
This comparison is the first thing that popped into my head when I read the Parker quote.
I always have mixed emotions when Alice’s thoughts dove-tail with my own.
I pity David Schildknecht . . . .
