Are you one of the “anti-flavor wine elites.”
Personally, I have cut to almost zero my purchases of Australian wines. Very few (est Shiraz) did I find to my liking. I guess I am “elite.”
Just off the tweet wire - here are RMP’s latest tweets:

lots of top wine merchants are heavily discounting once very expensive Aussie shirazs…out of fashion among the anti-flavor wine elites,
Heh, just tweeted about this. I’m an elitist. But you know: I like elite things in life. I like an elite doctor to do my surgery, an elite pilot to fly my plane, an elite winemaker to give me something with elegance.

If he personally drank this stuff than I could maybe just maybe understand the comment. But he never drinks this stuff himself. I think I’ve seen one hedonist gazette with Australian wines and they were all like Grange.
BTW, I was at an Australian wine dinner last week. We had things like Mount Mary, Wendouree, Parker, Best, Mt Langhi…not the fruit bombs that RP annoints with high scores.
I have followed his tweets since he started. He just doesn’t understand social media.
It appears as if he were “forced” to get a twitter account and tweet.
I don’t have any bones to pick with him but he should take a GaryVee course.
That’s just it–I’ve never heard Bob talk about drinking this stuff himself nor seen him post about it in terms of his own drinking it at home, etc. When I asked him, a number of years ago, about what he drank at home, he forcefully said “I drink mostly French wines at home.” So why insult people?
TWA has truly become The Wineries’ Advocate. He’s certainly become the industry’s advocate.
What’s there to get really? You tweet out short thoughts, maybe with links. People follow you if they find you/what you’re saying interesting. They unfollow if they decide that’s no longer true. It’s all public (aside from the direct message feature).
I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t understand that, I think it’s just that he’s an arrogant, self-involved twit.
I’ve gone biodynamic in my “anti-flavour elistism.” I am seeking a french wine that appears pale to the point of being colourless with no discernable fruit nuances in the nose or on the palate. Its the only way the terroir can truly shine. RMP
It is pretty clear from his writings that he only wants to hear from sycophants at this point in his career. He does not want, or is not able, to accept that other people with experience, knowledge and good palates prefer different styles of wine and that this does not make them or their opinions “elite” or “anti-flavor” or “wrong.” He also seems oblivious to the fact that his assessments are impacted by tasting hundreds of wines every day. No wonder low acid, high alcohol fruit bombs stand out to him.
