Are you a dujac or ponsot cdlr kind of guy?

I recently got hold of some Georges Lignier Clos de la Roche - the 1998. Anyone had a positive encounter with the G Lignier wines?

Dujac for me. I have more Dujac in my cellar than any other burg producer. Love Ponsot too. Both are great visits when in Burgundy. Laurent is a kick!

I like Dujac.

I haven’t had much experience with Ponsot. Ponsot landed cost in Australia are very high compared to Dujac, although their ex-winery prices are fairly comparable I am told.

So I will stick to Dujac.

Guess there’s nothing else for it but to do a side by side vertical! Anyone from the US heading to london in January let me know… [cheers.gif]

London in January…even that tasting would not get me there [drinkers.gif]

Seriously another vote for both; hard to separate.

However, another interesting question is Dujac Clos St. Denis versus Clos de la Roche. For me, the Denis.

Tosh! Nowhere better to drink great burgundy than in cold, rainy London in January… [pillow-fight.gif]

I love both of them. If forced to choose however, I choose Dujac. The aromatics slay me.

A great reason to come over. If it gets organized, I’d love to join.

Been there done that. The problem is not drinking the wine, it is going out when you have finished.

One of the reasons for +1.
Nicely said,David! [cheers.gif]

I don’t understand why Ponsot is being dogged as inconsistent. I understand that 95 and 96 were not successful but I’ve enjoyed almost all the other vintages including 76,88 and everything since 97. The 93 earlier this year wad mind-blowing as was the 08.

Im reatively new to the Burg world, and was wondering if anyone remembers having Ponsots on release 20-30 years ago. ie, are the modern day Ponsots being made in a similar fashion to the earlier vintages (late 70’s, early 80’s.) ???

Awesome Idea!

CdlR side by side Ponsot vs. Dujac in London! If this comes to reality I want in.

Im a “stare sadly though the window of a wine shop at two bottles of wine I can’t afford” kind of guy.

2009 Dujac CdlrR would cost me $300 from prices Ive seen. I dont even want tot know the Ponsot price.

Brad, David,

PM me if your serious. We’re looking at Thursday Jan 26th in London.

04 has some issues, too, beyond GMs . . .

IN case tasting takes place, I can bring Ponsot CDLR and/or CSD 98 as a participant… 26 Jan would do it for me.

Ok but not every vintage of Dujac has been stellar. I love both don’t get me wrong. I just feel the perception of Ponsot is a little off.

Speaking of… I was at one of my wine lockers today and walking by someones locker he had several boxes of 09 Dujac there including a bottle of the 09 CDLR standing up just acting like the whoreish little temptress she is. Lucky I didn’t have a corkscrew. I might have ended up in county.
