I haven’t had much experience with Ponsot. Ponsot landed cost in Australia are very high compared to Dujac, although their ex-winery prices are fairly comparable I am told.
I don’t understand why Ponsot is being dogged as inconsistent. I understand that 95 and 96 were not successful but I’ve enjoyed almost all the other vintages including 76,88 and everything since 97. The 93 earlier this year wad mind-blowing as was the 08.
Im reatively new to the Burg world, and was wondering if anyone remembers having Ponsots on release 20-30 years ago. ie, are the modern day Ponsots being made in a similar fashion to the earlier vintages (late 70’s, early 80’s.) ???
Ok but not every vintage of Dujac has been stellar. I love both don’t get me wrong. I just feel the perception of Ponsot is a little off.
Speaking of… I was at one of my wine lockers today and walking by someones locker he had several boxes of 09 Dujac there including a bottle of the 09 CDLR standing up just acting like the whoreish little temptress she is. Lucky I didn’t have a corkscrew. I might have ended up in county.
