Are you a dujac or ponsot cdlr kind of guy?

I’ve had a far bit of ponsot cdlr but had my first dujac recently. Given similar “quality” of wines/vintages, which do you tend to prefer and why?

Can I like them both ?

If I have to choose one, Dujac - for the ethereal aromatics.

Dujac or Lignier

Which Lignier ?

I love them both but Ponsot is so much more temperamental and demanding that I have to prefer it if pushed.

i tend to prefer dujac. ponsot can come across as too “polished” for my taste.

love the stemmy aromatics of dujac.

and consistency . . . and broad range . . . and the quality people there! (Love Ponsot, too!)

A broad range of Clos de la Roche?

Why I vote for Dujac. I get enough of “tempermental and demanding” in my household

I am a Truchot Clos de la Roche kind of guy.

It’s a close call, but I like Dujac by a stem more than Ponsot. It’s the aromatic display of the former that does it for me. One of my favorite wines in the world in fact.

Ponsot by a mile . I find Dujac wine style too stemmy . And Ponsot CdlR is in many years wine of the vintage material.

Howard, that was not one of the choices! neener (though I don’t disagree with you)

they actually often make 2 CdlR wines! I was referring to the broad stable of wines produced, however, as I’m sure you knew!

One of the greatest wines I have had is the '85 Ponsot…but they do take a lot of time.

Wines like the '99, '01 and '02 just aren’t accessible now, whereas the Dujacs are much more supple and approachable…

I also like Lignier as well (H. Lignier)…

Dujac, but I have a soft spot for both producers

Both- but each for very different moods and occasions.

Good question from the OP- not trying to knock the discussion- but for me at least this is apples and oranges. In Burgundy with appelations and grape choices so well set in stone- it is producer where the variable comes in, and so when it comes to selecting what I want to drink on a given evening Dujac and Ponsot Clos de la Roche are as different in my mind as Lafite and Mouton.

But of course 1st choice is to compare the two at the same sitting! Always up for a little academic stimulation to accompany a good evening.

Dujac, for the greater elegance and beautiful aromatics. Ponsot’s version just seems a bit more inconsisitent as well.
