Is there already a thread for Archival somewhere around here? I’m just curious if any other Berserkers have drank any of the bottles and can comment. I recall they had a launch on maybe the last berserker day but didn’t hear much. I love the concept they have taken. I’m assuming the winemaker has a following and those folks are the initial buyers?

There is an Archival Facebook page where people are posting notes……
That was my thought as well. I didn’t know there was that launch thread that @J_Patrick_Lynch just shared but it doesn’t really extend and it would be cool if others posted notes. I keep thinking to try a bottle just wasn’t sure if they’d also show up on BerserkerDay and I could try then instead of committing to a full case.
Maybe @jbrater could change the title to Archival Tasting Thread or something and mods could merge?
I have had 005, 007, and 008 i think. Ill go find my notes and come back and post them for you. But in general (and compared to any camx ive had) i would say these are more open and ready for the drinking, and i thoroughly enjoyed all 3.
Hows the value proposition?
I think most of them are around $50-$60, and i would say they drink above that price point.
I cant find my notes, but i remember the cab franc reminded me a lot of chappellets cab franc. There mightve been just a touch of a reduction flavor or something in the way back, but you had to search for it. I enjoyed it just as much as the chappellet which is like double the price. The cab i dont remember a lot about other than i liked it quite a bit, and my wife who is like california cabernet rah rah rah, was extremely impressed. Then the blend again i dont remember a lot about, but i remember liking it better than any other $50-60 red blend i could think of.
Hey guys, just noticed this thread! Glad to see Archival getting some action here on WB. We’ve tried to gain some traction here, and all those threads seem to have fizzled out. Our Facebook group: Archival Wine Society has been a good resource for customers to share their experiences, as @PHuff pointed out.
@Max_S1 I feel like we are offering incredible value. These are small, high-end lots that I source in barrel and finish them at my Chiron winery. Because of the limited volume and pretty high-cost of the wine in barrel our price points are typically $39-$59 on one bottle, that drops down by 15% on any order of a mixed six pack. We also offer free shipping with our “Archive” option, which is a “build a case over time” feature on our website. We have a different business model than Cam and aren’t trying to replicate what he is doing. Our feedback from customers so far is that we offer amazing value and the wine hits 2x-4x its price point.
As far as BerserkerDay @J_Patrick_Lynch, I am not sure what we can offer. I may throw a few offers from Archival on my Chiron offering. The issue is that we are selling out so quickly through our website that I am not sure what would make sense to BD customers. Perhaps some futures, we will see!
In the meantime, feel free to tag me if you guys have any questions.
Have really enjoyed the Archival wines I’ve tasted. Paying around $50 for something I would expect to cost around $90. But once they’re gone, they’re gone.
