Anyone tried Anthology dinner at Black Walnut Inn? (Foley wines Oregon)

Staying at the black walnut this summer in Oregon and was given the for the opportunity for the “Anthology” dinner. Price seems rather ridiculous at $275 a person and it seems to have ties to Foley wines. I’m curious of anyone else has tried it. We are going back to the Willamette Valley for the first time in many years and it is my wife’s birthday week; so interested and nice dinner but I think the price will keep me away from this one as there seems to be multiple fantastic options now. (recs appreciated!)

Have not. But have had a nice dinner at Okta with a good wine selection, in the event that you are looking for an alternative.

Okta closed last September

Oh that is unfortunate news. Although not entirely surprising.

Black Walnut is beautiful for sure.
In McMinnville, Atticus Hotel is a great option. Really nice rooms, and right downtown (dangerously close to Goodfellow too!).
Sosta House is in wine country at the old Ponzi Winery in Beaverton. Run by Mia Ponzi Hamacher (I babysat her when I worked for Ponzi 20 years ago). Three rooms BnB style

Also, going the AirBnB route has its advantages.

I have all my accommodations booked. I was asking about the restaurant experience.

To make this more wine centric, anyone tried the Foley Family wines? Looking at the associated brands not sure it’s my thing.

Foley owns Black Walnut (they bought it a few years ago) so no surprise on the dinner being Foley-focused. By the way, great accommodations – my wife and I stayed there a couple years ago. I’m not a huge fan of the Foley Oregon portfolio and I think you can find some really great alternative options fairly close to Black Walnut.

When you said recs appreciated – are you talking food, wine or both?

If it’s food – Dundee is just down Worden Hill Rd., you should check out the Red Hills Market. There’s also SubTerra or the Painted Lady close by in Newberg. If you’re looking for a nicer dining experience with some great wine, I’d suggest taking a look at the Joel Palmer House (a little farther, in Dayton) or Jory @ the Allison in Newberg. There’s also a bunch of great options in McMinnville, like Humble Spirit (I’m sure others can give you a ton more).

Thanks. Appreciate the restaurant recs. That is what I was looking for. I been looking at the previous threads as well

I should not need any help with wineries. Not entirely a wine focused trip and have been buying Oregan wine since 2009 or so. I’ll have some visits but think I already know where I want to go. Plus there are lots of threads on that.
