Anyone have tasting notes on a 2021 Sandhi Sta Rita Hills PN?

Just opened a bottle for the first time and it seems off. Almost fizzy. Thinking I may have gotten a bad bottle, but then again I could be going crazy. Also looks very cloudy, but not sure if that’s just how the wine is supposed to be. This is my first time trying any Sandhi btw.

I have not but checked Cellartracker and no complaints there.

Bump!

Opened a bottle yesterday, it did have a little tingle on the tongue, though wasn’t ‘off’ otherwise. Certainly suggests with exposure to warmer storage/shipping temps, it could go in a less favorable direction. I purchased from a shop in Santa Barbara, and have kept it cellared since, provenance is likely to be pristine assuming no circuitous routing from the winery in SRH to the shop.

Did you try giving it the “shake”? The wine is young enough that CO2 from bottling is still and issue.

Didn’t shake, though it did recede with air. CO2 definitely a possibility as well.

Wasn’t an issue to me, just considering with a low intervention producer that provenance becomes a significant factor over time.

I took the bottle from the OP back when this happened and it wasn’t present in the second bottle. Wine shop I bought it from said the wine shouldn’t have that carbonation taste on the tongue.

I had never known or thought fizz/spritz was something that might be caused by warm shipping temperatures or poor storage.

Can anyone explain to me why that might be so?

My first Sandhi was also potentially my last. 7/11/24 note on CT was mine at 89 points, echoing a but of your experience (eg perhaps my fuzziness was similar to your cloudiness?)

Nose of fresh fuzzy strawberries, raspberry, some dusty potpourri spice. Nose is a 92-93. On palate… earthy lavender, dark, purple currants, sour strawberry. High toned, purple fuzzy fruits, crunchy and slightly underripe, with too much acidity. Not a wine to sip on its own, give it food that can cut that acid. 88 on the palate. So overall 90. But for me, score would be in the high 80s. I poured some in a Boston round to check in after a couple days, to see how air softens that acidity. 89 points.
