Anyone else get a surprising email from Schrader

Anyone else get the following email from Schrader today? I was surprised to get it because I passed on last year’s offer.

Dear Brian,

We are delighted to announce our 2015 Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon release is just around the corner. Breathtakingly rich and concentrated, Winemaker Thomas Brown and his team have hit another home run with this remarkable portfolio of Napa Valley classic wines.

Please mark your calendar — the 2015 Schrader Cabernet offer window will open on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 9AM PST.

In appreciation for your continued loyalty, we are pleased to present you a reserved offer for this release. Your exclusive offer will be available for purchase until Friday, December 16, 2016 at 5PM PST. Please note, this will be your only opportunity to purchase the 2015 Schrader Cabernet Sauvignons via our Mailing List.

Yup, but it is the 7th Dec.

Same, surprising. I think I actually bumped up to guaranteed allocations by not buying… Sometimes playing hard to get is the way to go I guess… Maybe I should email MacDonald telling them I’d hate to have to buy another 3 pack.

LOL. They are apparently hurting and looking for customers. SQN does not have this problem.

I had a conversation with them last year. They told me they let you go 1 or 2 years without buying before they remove you from the list

I did not receive said email and am therefore hurt by my exclusion.

I’m repeating some stuff from last year’s thread, but here goes… The old price of $175 per bottle (for a six-pack) was a major splurge for me. I did enjoy the wines, but I was miffed by how they strung me along. I bought what was offered for four straight vintages and bit my tongue when they threw in a couple bottles of LPV. I was able to acquire a six-pack, but I never made it to the top tier where you had access to all the different wines. So, I also received the notice of an offer. It will be interesting to see what the offer consists of and what the current price will be. I wasn’t a buyer at $225 per bottle, so the exercise will purely be for grins and entertainment. Just have to let it go… too bad, but that is the way of the fine wine world.

Not surprised. Schrader moved to a December offer quite awhile back. I haven’t been paying hyper attention to the Napa game as I’ve been distracted by bourbon the last couple years. Still, I can’t imagine in the short time Ive been gone (f*ck you 2016) dynamics have changed much - TRB/Fred is still quintessential WINE for me. If TRB gets hit by a bus or wins the lottery, my wine days are pretty much over. I’m curious about vintage '15, but a buyer regardless. Schrader will be my last pass.

Because SQN is like 2007 CdP. Pairs with anything and lives forever.

You live on Olympus or you don’t.

My surprising e mail came last year. Schrader caution - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers

They helped me make a decision with their higher priced wine. Maybach is far superior, and less costly. Thank you schrader.

Well I bought the 2013 and passed on 2014.

No email for me so far.

Lovely juice but $1,125 for a 5 pack. Plus $79 minimum for shipping.
One in college, one on the way… Hard to afford this anymore.

1 5-pack seems like they are limiting production/allocations. Any indication they are limiting the magnums this year?

I actually bought the 2014 and no email for me.

Stylistically two very different wines. I personally prefer Schrader’s cassis/blue fruit driven nose, more classical Napa cab than Maybach, very ripe red fruit not unlike Hundred Acre.

Six pack this year vs five pack last year, offered at $225 per bottle. My allocation is the same as last year plus the wish list.

Super Pack here plus Sparky
No Schrader and no Colesworthy.

I’ve been on the list since '06 vintage.

When I first read the title of this thread I thought I was gonna open it to a price decrease [oops.gif]

Just opened the mailer and my offer is for 2 “Cellar Packs” (each pack includes 1 bottle of each of the 6 cabs), 2 magnums of Old Sparky and 1 magnum of Colesworthy. There is also a wishlist box for more magnums and something called the “Fantastic Pack” which is 2 bottles of CCS and 2 bottles of RBS in a wood case. I’ve been on the list since the 04 vintage.

Wow…Offer has been open a couple hours and not one post mentioning an “easy buy” or “easy pass.” I will likely pull the trigger on a pack and mag…wish I could forego the pack OWC and shave $50-$100 off the price/shipping.
