Got this in my E-Mail this morning, and at only five hundred Euros, it seems like a hell of a deal:
"Good morning and warm compliments from FINE -the Leading Fine Wine magazines of the world.
You were recommended to us by a colleague, as a great friend of fine wine. Therefor, I want to personally invite you as one of the few, who will be able to enjoy FINE Exclusive, not merely as a publication but also as a unique service concept."
I saw a copy some time ago. Lots of expensive advertising. An article with tasting notes on the greatest 100 wines of the 20th century. Boy, did they ever get a bunch of fakes – assuming they really opened the bottles and didn’t just make up the tasting notes.
I got the same invite. 500 Euros? Felt more like a well done Nigerian scam than a real invitation. I’ll gladly take a look at someone else’s copy however.
Although I have not seen the magazine, a friend of mine and fellow GJE member, Marie Ahm, will be writing a regular column for them. Its, I believe, a Danish publication which is now publishing as well in English. Marie, being Danish and a wine expert, was one of the people selected to write an ongoing column.
The owner is a wealthy Danish collector who is a professional photographer. I understand he takes all the photographs for the publication. Though a ‘competitor’ to the World of Fine Wine (which I write for occasionally) the Editors of WFW are on quite friendly terms with the owner of Fine.
500 euros to be on their mailing list!? This magazine subscription cannot be bought or subscribed to… only invited to. Woohhoooo I get a magazine subscription for $800USD. BRB BACKING UP THE TRUCK
The online magazine looks pretty ritzy with lots of luxury goods ads. Might appeal to a certain clientele, not for me though. Sounds like you get some other services with your subsription, concierge/sommelier/auction services.
