Curious is anyone is currently a member and what their experience has been like? I’m currently on the waitlist, but it sounds like there may be availability soon.
I am - I signed up last year before it got revamped into the Yes Society. I haven’t made use of the hotline or any extras yet. I received the following wines in my first order:
2021 Domaine Abbatucci Diplomat d’Empire
2019 Jacopo Biondi-Santi Schidione
2018 Domaine Belluard Les Perles du Mont Blanc. This is the only one I’ve drank and it was delicious, I also appreciate learning about this domaine as the previous winemaker passed recently.
I think the general consensus on here has been that you’re paying for the curation, and that the prices are reasonable but not the best. For my part I’m happy as I’m new to wine and welcome the curation. There’s also upcoming events including one in NY later this year that I might try to attend.
I’m currently in the Yale Skull & Bones Society, the Illuminati, and the Pentaverate (which presently consists of me, King Charles, the Gettys, the Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders).
Not in the Yes Society yet, though.
those look like pretty good bottles, definitely blue-ribbon somm selections. may i ask what their pricing structure looks like - and what you get with the bottles? thank you!
Be careful. The “Gods” as they refer to themselves (those members of the skull & Bones, Illuminati, and Pentaverate) do no take kindly to members being public. You will likely have to gift them each a bottle of Caymus 40th Anniversary to buy your safety back. A little known secret is that lizard people who run the world gain their strength from Caymus. You didn’t hear it here though.
Please forgive me for my thread tangent.
Yep no prob.
There are four membership levels - I pay for the 1 bottle a month membership, mixed wine types. I paid $150 per month before ‘The Collective’ became ‘Yes Society’, but I’m paying $140 now per month - not sure if that’s some kind of discount for existing members or new pricing strategy. This includes shipping twice a year.
They also offer a text/call hotline to ask wine questions, an online store with a premium selection of wine, and a series of wine events coming up this year in LA, NYC, Miami, SF, Austin, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, DC, Charleston, Phoenix, Napa. No dates on most of these events but they are themed around producers or regions. For example - Selosse vertical, champagne dinner, blind tasting, Swiss wines. I don’t think the events are free, but no pricing info yet.
I signed up last year and received the same allocation as Amanda.
I’d heard good things about the Antica Terra wines and after signing up was offered an allocation within a few months.
Thanks Amanda. I’m considering joining for the same
reasons you have. I tend to go down rabbit holes exploring specific things, and I hope this broadens my horizons a bit more.
@Greg_GK - I went all in and joined the AT, the Yes Society (like Amanda before it was renamed) and the Liliian lists after attending a “very nice lunch” at their property last year.
My first allocation was the 2019 Jacopo Biondi-Santi Schidione and the 2022 Stefano Chioccioli Sanfora as I joined later in the year last year.
I also agree with @AmandaH that the club is more about the curation, events and service than the pricing, although the pricing does seem very reasonable.
For example, they were pouring a 2012 Domaine Les Monts Fournois Champagne Grand Cru Montagne Verzy Montagne de Reims, when I picked up my allocation, were happy to source a few bottles for me immediately and after drinking one on New Year’s Eve, I requested a few more and they did some searching and were able to provide them.
Likewise, I was able to snag the last magnum they were willing to sell of the 2014 Angelicall, and have used the wine hotline for pairing advice with great success.
So I am pleased with the overall value and will continue to be a member as well as attend their “very nice lunches” as they are just so much fun.
