Any words on Pipenos from Chile? (w/video)

I noticed that Wine & Spirits magazine was covering the Chilean resurgence of pipenos, that is, home-style Mission grape wines that are caveman-level in their vinification.

I bought a bottle of a cool-climate Pipeno from K&L a month or two ago, and was not especially impressed. Fresh, slightly stemmy, and very cloudy. It became chuggable on day 3. Maybe one from a warmer Chilean region would satisfy my palate.

This video from Louis Antoine Luyt is awesome. It tells you everything you need to know, without words:

Has anyone else tried Pipenos from Chile? Any insight??

I tried the 2014 Luyt Pipeño Portezuelo and found it very intriguing. Unusual enough I’d only want it so often but definitely worth trying. Full-bodied, on the dry and sour side. Did not change much with air time.
