Any wineries near Saratoga NY??

Going to Saratoga NY area this weekend.
Any wineries or other stuff of interest in the area?

Thanks

In the future, I promise to come to WB first, before going to eBob.

My answer is located there.

If you’re looking for a good BYO, try the Spring Water Bistro. it’s accross the street form the race track. No corkage and the food is quite good.

I read the post on ebob and decided to check out the Adirondack winery website since I am in lake george once a year or so. Decided to look at the wine list, and check out their sauvignon blanc.

it is award winning…SAUVIGNON BLANC - 2009 New York State Wine Labeling & Packaging Competition 2nd Place Winner

CONGRATS!!

Gerry, everything you say is true. Sadly, they closed in the spring. Hopefully he will reopen somewhere else some day.

Ted, no wineries of any merit within 100 miles of Saratoga. There are a couple of wine stores with not-so-great prices, but some interesting selections: Putnam Wine and Saratoga Wine Exchange.

The other best restaurants are Chez Sophie Bistro and Beekman Street Bistro, as well as Mrs. London’s for lunch or dessert.

There is, of course, the flat track, but I assume that’s why you’re going?

Take a walk around the first floor and backyard of the Adelphi Hotel.

Take a long walk all the way north on Broadway past the grand old houses.

Also be sure to walk all over Congress Park and check out a few glorious houses along Circular Drive, including the gorgeous Batcheller Mansion Inn.

Caffe Lena is still legendary for live folk music. Graham Parker will be there this Saturday night. And there’s SPAC.

For art, there’s the Tang Gallery at Skidmore.

If you’re a bit of an early riser, breakfast at the track, followed by a tour of the stable area is really special. Check out this page and scroll to near the bottom.

tang gallery…
NSFW???

That’s Da Pu Tang Gallery you are thinking of.

Ted,
Don’t know if it is too late, but another reccomendation for places to dine is 51 Front Street Winebar and Bistro, in Ballston Spa. Went last night and had a great dinner. The winelist isn’t great but the food is.

Hope you are enjoying your time in this neck of the woods…

Thanks all. We actually didn’t get to any wineries. But – Beekman Bistro was fantastic - and a decent, reasonably priced wine list.
Oh — and I won $1.60 at the track. Lucky me.

Beautiful area to visit. Next time we will get to a winery. My GPS came up with one in Balston Spa area.

Thanks again for all the hints and help.

Glad you liked it up here, Ted. I still don’t think you’ll find a winery worth visiting around here.

Let us know next time if you’d like to do an offline.
