Any tasting groups in the Phoenix area?

I’m in the Phoenix area for 2 months and would love to run into some fellow wine lovers. Are there any tasting groups in the area accepting new (and temporary) members?

There are quite a few berserkers in the area.

@Rich_Brown is the official representative designated by the powers granted to Wineberserkers

Ha ha! You know your options are going to be super limited in Phx if I’m the representative!

Welcome aaron! Im not currently part of one but @Joel_Pulver might be able to help you out!

We should create an I-11 tasting group that meets quarterly. We are only 4 hours apart by car. What do you think?

I love the idea but might be a little tricky to coordinate with my kids/etc! Maybe i can make a family trip out of it

Lots of enthusiastic wine drinkers in the area. What types of wines do you typically drink?

My brother in law lives in Phoenix (Avondale). I have no problem driving down. Besides we are empty-nesters now so it’s easier.

Bud! You for sure have to let me know the next time you’re in town!

I know it’s cliche, but I like a lot of stuff. Drink a lot of Burgundy, Oregon, and SLH pinot. Chianti and Brunello. Vouvray and Savennieres. German riesling and Austrian gruner. Champagne and Spumante. Priorat and CdP and Gigondas. Tend to prefer well-aged stuff in general. We’re on the road so I only have a case or so with me at any given time, but I have stuff shipped to us from our storage unit in Chicago. Right now I have some Lucien Le Moine, reserve Rombauer single vineyard chardonnay, and Cameron Friulano. End of next week I’ll be getting another case including Scavino Barolo, Washington State stuff (Delille, No Girls, Buty, Mark Ryan, B. Leighton), Arnot Roberts Falaghina, Psagot (Israel), a Rosso di Montalcino, and a few others. If it’s well made, I can appreciate it.

What about you?

Thanks Rich.

@Joel_Pulver, any ideas?

Hi just seeing this. We have a few different groups. Others are always welcome.

Some are Burg drinkers
Some are Napa
Some Bordeaux
Some Italian
Others are equal opportunity

Where will you stay while in AZ?
-Ryan

We’re in Mesa through mid-March, then Scottsdale through mid-April. I’m open to anything wine-wise.

Ping me offline. We typically get together in both north Phoenix & Scottsdale. Also there are some pretty killer events- sure if you are into Hundred Acre, Chateau Margaux, Leoville Poyferre, Sine Qua Non, etc but Anhelo events are worth checking out (disclaimer I use my relationships to bring in wineries and chateaus from all over the world). Cheers
